27 | Matheus Nunes - 2025/26

Whilst he has been great this season I can’t shake the feeling he’s going to do something stupid and exactly the wrong time
You mean like Walker used to do, yet he was seen as the best we have had in that position ?

Not a criticism of Walker by the way :-)

Personally I think he's adapted brilliantly after a shaky start to his career at City. A threat going forwards and has now started to get his positional play right defensively.

Based on what? (Genuine question, not trying to be arsey)
Nunes is a far better footballer and is really blossoming now he has some confidence.
My initial take is because defensively Kush was more solid, although Nunes is obviously getting better in that regard and yesterday he was brilliant, but as you say as a footballer Nunes is the better. All I hope is that Nunes has got rid of the silly mistakes and lapses of concentration out of his game. Yesterday was very encouraging.

Great yesterday. Did on one occasion make a brilliant tackle, drove forward with the ball and then gave an easy pass away. I feel he is always on the cusp of brilliance and a huge rick but in 3 of the last 4 games, he has been great.

Wish he'd put his bloody arms down when the ball is being crossed over him though. He had them really wide right at the end of the game and it just missed flicking his fingers for what would have been a stonewaller. I think Dias went over right away and had a word about it.

Get Khus in at RCB alongside Nunes and we have the fastest most athletic right side of defence in the world.

Huge credit to Nunes for the last 12mths, rumours of City wanting to sell him and he dug in and has been great.

Has certainly surprised me. But having the best coach in the World, it probably shouldn't do.
Keep improving at the same rate and he saves us a fair few quid.

Someone told him how fast and strong and talented as a footballer he really is, and he seems to trust in his own strengths.

Now on to the next case: Savinho please.

Give those talented and as Pep says "coachable" lads some time.

And some vocal support can do wonders too...

I don't think Nunes has ever had a game as bad as Savinho's.

moments yes like in the derby.. but the whole game no!

Another very good performance overall, did have a brainfart with this which was almost very very costly. but to be fair to him it seems like everyone just switched off completely but i think he takes the bulk of the fault here1762389958466.png

I think that's Donna's ball, he shouldn't have needed to make those tackles.

chalk it off to equal fault of all three involved. i guess the ball was just perfectly in the area where all three felt like they could leave it. but they took too long to recognize it
