27 | Matheus Nunes - 2025/26

Thought he was very impressive in the first half. He shut down a lot of their potential attacks
He is really solid as a 3rd CB/sometimes wide FB role where his buildup with passing is important.

He plays deeper than O Reilly most of the time.

Hopefully he's shaken off what was a nasty challenge and has no lasting damage. Another solid game from him.

He did misplace a pass by about an inch that caused Dias to stretch slightly at one point though so relegate him to the eds squad and sell him on Jan for a fiver...

Will make a fuck up every now and then but outside that hes great. Seems to need to drop a bollock in order to re focus.

No problem seeing him line up at right back.

What fuck up did he had today? Because everyone in Defence does? Or is it only mentioned when it’s him?

Nothing today, hence the ‘now and then’. I like him but he fucked up last week v leeds. He has one in him. Despite that I still think he’s a very good choice for right back.

He was near asf to become new Kalvin Phillips in first Man City season. But after that made huge comeback

Good point. By my calculations, however, that would only remove 4 of the 16 who got on the pitch today.
I think it was that poor pass in the first half that Dias blocked. No, that was Gvardiol.
Or maybe that poor touch that let them in but Donnarumma came to the rescue. No, I'm wrong again. That was Dias.

I’m guessing your response wasn’t intended to quote my post.

we have to stop overanalyzing every error he makes, we have to stop with this "yeah he's okay and i'll keep him as backup but we need a real RB". any RB you get will make mistakes. i guarantee you. most of them will make more mistakes than he does. you have to evaluate him by his average performance level, not the variance. his average is very high and even his consistency level has been very good for a while now.

Its funny how many only point out every single error of his but don't do the same with all of our back line.

O'Reilly fucked up and cost us a goal at Newcastle, barely any mention of it. Gvardiol fucked up and cost us a pen/goal against Leeds, not much of a mention. Dias dropped a bollock against Sunderland but got bailed out, hardly mentioned. Nunes cost us a goal against Leeds, mentioned repeatedly for numerous games.

and they never specify just who that magical right back that never makes mistakes currently on the market they think we should target instead is!

There is some who are adamant he won't be our RB next year.

Like sure, we should buy a RB so we have a proper 2nd player for that spot since Lewis and Khus can't do what Nunes does.

But the idea that the player we bring in (unless it's like Livramento level) is gonna obviously be an upgrade on Nunes will probably be a good reality check for those people about high the standard is that Nunes brings.
