27 | Matheus Nunes - 2025/26

Thought Nunes played well at Arsenal (except for the first few minutes) after replacing Khusa. Plus he wasn't in that form back then.

Villa are not much better than Villarreal.

Guess Khusanov will start in some games at RB as well. Suddenly, the FB positions are more of a strength than a weakness of the team.
I'd argue they're not as good as Villarreal. They're 3rd in the league and that was their first defeat at home since march. It's a tough place to go, which is part of the reason lots of la liga teams were angered about the Barca fixture being moved to a neutral ground in Miami.

Spot on!

There’s an [un]healthy section of our fanbase who seem to crave for having members of the squad who they hate and need to berate. It’s like it’s fashionable to act this way, like they’re the ‘in’-crowd who are doing the cool thing in hating someone and not getting behind him.

Everything bad that happens is always their favourite player to hate’s fault, everything bad they do is always highlighted and laboured on, anything good they do is ignored or met with ‘this doesn’t win me over’ and they don’t get behind the player like supporters should.

I don’t know why we do it. It’s odd behaviour.
It’s a forum, it’s where people let off steam, he’s not gonna read it!

True but for me the "opinions" on Nunes transcend the usual BS. There's something truly dark and gratuitous and disingenuous about it.
Meanwhile he's been as good or better than any RB in the league so far this season including Timber, James, Porro, Spence, Gusto, Munez or whoever else. He's 100% been part of the solution and far from a problem.
With him and Khusonov as options we have no pressing need for a RB.
But I know someone who does...

How about this:

Jurrien Timber (Arsenal) – 82%
Daniel Munoz (Crystal Palace) – 77%
Pedro Porro (Tottenham Hotspur) – 68%
Kenny Tete (Fulham) – 66%
Joel Veltman (Brighton) – 64%
Matty Cash (Aston Villa) – 64%
Reece James (Chelsea) – 62%
Kyle Walker-Peters (West Ham United) – 61%
Trai Hume (Sunderland) – 60%
Matheus Nunes (Manchester City) – 57%

Nunes is - when on form - OK (last in the top 10 list) - but really? Struggling after Livameto?

To me this indicates that you have no idea of what at top class RB is capable of - and furthermore you've no ability to rank RB's - Liveramentgo first - and then no one?

That's just so funny

Small conspiracy theory @twosips .. maybe Nunes struggled under Lillo's coaching.

He's always had the ability to play line breaking passes.. hence his 14 G+A last season.

But his positional play and physicality seems to be much much better now.. and I have to wonder if it's the new coaches teaching him in a way that he understands.. because he's made a massive step up.

He might actually be a very useful versatile player that just needs to be taught what to do..

I mean year over year.. the improvements are stunning..

1st year.. why'd we buy him for
2nd year.. hmm maybe there's a player in there
3rd year.. possibly the best right back in the league

Imagine if you'd have said on here at the end of January that by the end of the year our best three full backs would be Khusanov, Nunes and O'Reilly.

Pep Guardiola on Matheus: "He can be an incredible right-back!

He’s a holding midfielder with incredible physicality going back. As much as he’s focused, he can become one of the best.

It’s a question of him now, we talk a lot about that. It’s just change your mindset and feel you can do it there.

He has special attributes to play on the sides. Last two/three games he’s played unbelievable.”

My goodness! Pep is out here sounding like me. Lol

Really didnt rate him at all last season there but credit where its due, he`s come on leaps and bounds! Keep it up Matheus!

Sancho made him look like a pub player

As for that shot he had - should be a dropping/fining offence
