On this day...............City recover from a goal down to beat third-placed Stoke City 2-1 and ignite a promotion push that would end with victory in the play-off final at Wembley. Second half goals from Paul Dickov and Gareth Taylor are enough to earn Joe Royle's side three points and push City up to seventh spot in Division Two.

Perhaps it's because I've subliminally blocked his awfulness from my mind, but for the life of me I cannot remember the name of the player pictured. Someone put me out of my misery......

Goater got benched for this one, and he improved after due to the Taylor competition which added new motivation. Terry Cooke also was a catalyst for the improvement.

At the end of the game one of their forwards went around Weaver and shot right across the goal which I thought was in. Wimpy stoke kids crying to be let out at the end throwing tantrums demanding be allowed to fight city fans, who you know would have run a mile if the police were not holding them back, but it was a funny sight.

18 years ago.... god i feel old.

Gave up my season ticket seats in the kippax just for that day to to sit in the main stand so i could meet David Oldfield at the players tunnel - he had been my teenage city crush along with Andy Hinchcliffe.. Whenever David came back to Maine Road with Leicester (and then Stoke) i noticed he always seemed to have his hands down his shorts fiddling with what i assumed to be his huge tackle.. ahem ;)

Great win, great day, wasnt in my usual seat as my brother got a ticket for the game and I sat with him, the place was rocking second half, post Christmas cheer, everyone was suitably oiled. The day the comeback started for me.
