29 Years Since This Stunner

I didn't have a ticket for this game, so on the afternoon I drove down and stood in a non moving queue at the ticket office to buy one.
About ten minutes in, a, let's say, more mature bloke, approached me and asked if I needed a ticket, to which I replied yes.
He said "I have some that were given to a school and they're £10"
I bought one and it was for the Main stand, towards the Platt lane end, restricted view behind one of those stupid posts
Kinky picked the ball up to the left of me, and I had to lean miles forward when he got to the penalty area
A "typical City display"
Totally outplayed the opposition. Cruising to a win, then shitting the bed for the last 15 minutes

If my memory is correct this game was a 'crucial relegation six pointer' ...heh, remember them?

How was this team set up back then?
Gio in a free role?
Who played left midfield?

CITY: Immel; Frontzeck, Brightwell, Curle, Symons; Summerbee, Clough, Flitcroft, Lomas; Kinkladze; Rosler

Remember standing on the concourse waiting To see a replay on a tiny TV they kept showing the first goal took ages to show the second. Magic

Having earlier hit the crossbar with a strike from distance,Kinkladze broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute when he turned the ball into the Southampton net from close range.

However, what happened just four minutes later had the City faithful drooling.Lomas picked out Kinkladze wide out on the right flank. From there,he jinked inside Charlton, who failed in his attempt to out-muscle Kinkladze. Then,as he reached the edge of the area, two sliding tackles, including one from Monkou missed which left City's attacking midfielder with just goalkeeper Beasant to beat.

A little jink fooled the Saints goalkeeper and that allowed Kinkladze to loft the ball into the opposite corner of the net for what is one of the best goals in Premier League history.

Tisdale halved the deficit midway through the second half, but City held out to claim all three points.

CITY: Immel; Frontzeck, Brightwell, Curle, Symons; Summerbee, Clough, Flitcroft, Lomas; Kinkladze; Rosler

SOUTHAMPTON: Beasant; Dodd, Monkou, Neilson, Hall, Charlton; Hughes, Oakley, Tisdale; Le Tissier, Shipperley

I remember that, I was in the lower tier of the Kippax diagonally opposite so didn’t have the best view, but the reaction around the stadium was incredible. It was only when I caught it on MOTD that I realised how great it was.
