3-5-2 Formation Next Season?

With all the players higher up in the pitch there are so many chances to cross the ball, as evident today against a strong side like Chelsea we still put numerous balls in, Dzeko should thrive off that, all of our strikers to be honest

was there today and I was unconvinced, I found that we were badly exposed when Chelsea threw 4 or 5 men forward in the first half.

Would it work with:

Agger---Kompany--Lescott

quite possibly, but why try it with Zaba at LCB and Savic god only knows, Milner at RWB, if Hazard hadn't been so shit we'd have had a lot more trouble down that side.

We didn't look that steady when it was 11 v 11, early days but I'd rather we went into the season with a quick start with something that we know works.

Just my view, I don't want to see Savic play for us so do we now need 2 CB's now Kolo is seemingly gone? if we all play all 3 frontline CB's then we have no depth unless he promotes Rekik?

This isn't 1908, would never work with that many attacking players

Would rather have a more De Rossi type player than Rodwell but lets see how he goes on.
We can rotate the defence with Zaba, Kolarov and Milner all in reserve.
Not sure where Silva and Nasri fit into this system as if you put one of them in the team you have to play Yaya more defensively and hes not as effective.
So many options though.

Another good option but I hate the de jong, barry partnership thats why I put Rodwell in.

i really like this 3-5-2 formation. with this setup i can see why Mancini don't need any winger (and why AJ not playing). we already have 4 good wing back - zabaleta, richards, clichy & kolarov (5, if you count Milner). i also can't see Silva and Nasri playing together in this formation.

i hope bobby will sign ONE top class defender to play in the first team (Agger, etc). also i wish Rekik or Boyata will get their chance to compete with Savic.

good post. Whilst we played well yesterday I'm still not convinced on the 352. It doesn't suit our personnel. For
A start you can't get silva, yaya and nasri in there, although I can live without nasri. Second, we don't have any natural wingbacks. Third, it doesn't get the best from our centre halves, particularly lescott who works as a one-on-one battling centre half, rather than one who likes people running at him(as will happen against good teams with 352)

The only positive from this formation assuming we stick with it is it could be like Keegan's first season with lots of 6-3s and 4-2s...
