First half. Sheff ball down the channel for Burke. He’s after it fast. Dias keeps up with him and forces him to the touchline. “Ok slide tackle for a corner and regroup” I’m thinking ...
Nope! Dias slides, hooks the ball, send Burke flying and comes out with the ball and brings it forward.
wtf? Just smile and enjoy. What a fucking player.
But koulibaly would’ve then hit an 150 yard assist :)

The main reason why many fans were sceptical about Dias was obsession with pace and Dias, unlike CBs like Kounde and Koulibaly, isn't the quickest CB out there. Dias' biggest quality is not a particular individual attribute as a defender but his ability to organise and encourage people around him. While Van Dijk has better physical attributes and is probably more difficult to beat in 1 vs 1 situations (but he is/was in his prime!), he can't quite organise the defence like Dias, that's priceless about Ruben. Baresi wasn't a (very quick) physical beast either but is rightly regarded as one of the best defenders ever.

He's no slouch though. Burke is lighting quick and he did a good job of keeping up with him today

Can you believe 442 have just done their Top 10 centre backs and Dias didn’t get in? Some odd choices in there and Slab Head in as you’d expect.

Just read that, what a bizarre list! They've put Laporte, Koulibaly and Varane ahead of Ramos for some reason.

It is hard to envisage. Joules Kounde, who we allegedly were interested in, is now yet another of Manchester United's targets, according to the media. I have not seen a lot of him but he seems extremely highly rated.

Kounde is good but I can't imagine him coming into our side and effectively being surrogate captain to turn us into one of the two best defences in the world.

I agree but Dias +1 is what we have and I suspect whoever plays alongside Ruben would blossom.

I agree with most of what you say, with the exception of Baresi’s pace.
