3 | Ruben Dias - 2025/26

Because he’s quite easily our worst centre half and the difference after he came on for Khusanov tells you everything.

Stones is dusted too but at least he has redeeming qualities.
But people are blaming him as if he made a mistake as to why we lost.

Watching the second goal again.

If he’d sprinted back into position rather than jogged back, he would have had a genuine chance to block that goal.

The bloke’s on a steady decline.

I must watch their second again. Where were Dias and Stones? I know that Nunes lost a challenge on the right and AN was beaten to the ball by the goal scorer but what the fuck were John and Ruben doing when all this was going on?

I honestly think he's been on a downwards trajectory since Laporte left. His last 2 seasons have been concerning.
I agree. Two or three years of decline, punctuated by the odd good performance.

He’s never been the quickest, so his positioning, concentration and anticipation need to be on point. But they haven’t been for a long time now.

He's at his best when he's fired up, making blocks and getting the other defenders up for it.

Just don't feel like he does that any more.

Yeah he should have predicted Stones giving the ball to a Brighton player 10 yards in front of him on an easy clearance. The second goal is 100% Stones' fault and no-one else's.

He should be stepping up when Stones does. He should be anticipating the ball coming back at us. Not sitting in the same block - on his own - playing people onside.

Ait-Nouri managed to step up.

He should see the future and anticipate Stones making a colossus cock-up, seems like a rational thing to expect.

No mate. Not see the future. Anticipate. As I said.

Anticipation is a HUGE factor in professional. Specifically football. If everybody stood still, nothing would happen.

For example. They won the ball by anticipating Stones would put it where he did.
