3 | Ruben Dias - 2025/26

DCL is a very formidable opponent. So credit where credit is due, Ruben did really well tonight.

I know a lot wanted Khusanov yesterday after the Newcastle game but I think there's is a time and place.

Dias' leadership was all on show yesterday and without it we would have drew or lost that game.

Khusanov is going to be a great player, but games like yesterday away to Leeds, under the cosh, Dias is the man.

The older heads won is that game yesterday.

He’s got one of the biggest jumps I’ve ever seen in football.

We saw in the season that he played under Ancelotti what he could have been.

Injuries and being at Everton lowered his ceiling. So much so that he became a model.

I rate him like you said injuries has limited him. Would have been a good back up for us

If everything went normal. Leeds would’ve scored 2 in the first 20 . Quite lucky honestly

Backs against the wall defending in your own box then Dias ( like Otamendi before him) is the type of defender you need. He showed that against Leeds. Dominating possession and with a high line and full backs who push up wide we need pace in the back line and that’s what Khusanov brings. Think we will see Khusanov gradually replace Dias but not this season

The one big chance they had was from a blatant foul on Guehi that took him out of the game, which is the only reason the chance happened. It would have been called back if he scored.

Under the cosh, balls to the walls defending first choice CB

Highline, playing vs low block counters, a liability and at the cost of the Khusanov insurance policy at that.

I don't understand why our fans are still glazing over Dias and Bernardo. Dias turned from a world class defender to an average player since last season while Bernardo hasn't been an elite level player in 2 and half years. You don't win PL titles with washed players based on nostalgia. He's not good enough to be our starter. A super sub? Sure, but a starter? No chance. Cherki needs to play over him every game and I can't wait for the next season when that will be a reality because he's literally our only playmaker at the club right now. Dias needs to be a backup for Khusanov, he showed more consistency than Dias did over the entire season.

I've always said it, in addition to his slowness, as soon as there's a physical striker who knows how to use his body with his back to goal, Ruben gets eaten alive in the duels, he doesn't know how to defend in that position, the first goal was ridiculous.

Doesnt deserve the status afforded to him by Pep of automatic pick when fit. Khusanov is better and has much more important attributes. Dias is the player to bring on when we are under the cosh, not the one to start if we intend on having a high line. That loyalty to him needs to end. It will cost the team and will possibly cost us in terms of losing our future too if they're finding themselves behind Dias.

You’d think he’d try and win headers, wouldn’t you? That Jesus is about half his size and won every aerial duel.
