30 | Claudio Echeverri - 2025/26 (on loan at Leverkeusen)

If he goes on loan.. he'll be gone like Perrone who I really rated

Major mistake to loan him.
Number 10 for Roma in Serie A is a great loan for him - a season in a major league at 19 wonderful for his development.

Perrone did well at Como but the lack of teams queuing up for his signature when he was available shows the level he is at. So will only be "gone like Perrone" if he doesn't progress as he has the potential to.

Not really he plays in a position we might have space for next summer,up to him to prove his worth. Perrone played in a position we are unlikely to have space in for a while yet. Very different situation. Echeverri might come back he might not but not because it’s anything like Perrone.

Maybe but once a player samples Rome - one of the most amazing cities in the world - and their incredible support it would be a wrench to leave. I fear we won’t see him again.

To be fair, you can't get any more captivating than playing in front of Argentinian fans as he had at River. I suspect he's grown up seeing us dominate and wants to make his mark here given the chance. Not ditch that opportunity because Rome is mint.

Yes but Argentinians accept they have to leave South America and move to Europe to further their career. Anyway we will see.

I'll be disappointed if we loan him, but I'll be extremely disappointed if we loan both him and Bobb and Pep sticks with the uncs for another season. We need Echeverri's fresh energy, hunger and unpredictability in the squad.
Bobb has the benefit of being an academy/club trained player behind him which helps his cause. I’d have loved Echeverri to stay this season but with how bloated the squad is he was always going to be one of the first out the door. Made peace with this one a while ago even though if I had my way there’d be two or 3 gone before him.

Hopefully he does well wherever he goes be it Roma or elsewhere and comes back in a year a better player.

We’ve not got the best record with loans going out and coming back to join the first team admittedly, but if he’s as good as we’ve been told hopefully he’s the one to break the mold

Under Pep it has been very rare if non-existent for a young player to go out on loan and come back a regular.

I can't help but feel the club have had to decide between him and Bobb and they have chosen Bobb.

Probably because we have Cherki and Foden who can do the 10 and we need another winger option.

Echeverri will do well on loan and end up being sold for £40m-£50m.

It’s about game time , he isn’t going to get much ahead of Foden ,Cherki, Savinho, Bobb. Up to him if he goes to Roma to show he’s better than those players. If he can establish himself at Roma. Also up to Savinho and Bobb to prove they are better than Echeverri if they stay.
I think its a good move. Like you say, he's well down the pecking order here so its best for him to be playing and improving and we check again next summer. Looks very bright so I think and hope its just us continuing his development

IMHO he's already ahead of Savinho and Bobb.. but Bobb being homegrown works in his favor.

A blind Man City fan can tell he's got more goals in him than Savinho..

TBH with the non-homegrown situation, I don't think we've got much choice but to loan him. They'll be a few contracts expiring in 2026/sales, he can come back and get his chance then.
