30 | Claudio Echeverri - 2025/26 (on loan at Leverkeusen)

Leverkusen was a good move. Slightly disappointing that he can't get a look in. Savinho was still worth keeping and with the contract extension.

Didn't understand him having a year in Germany, when he could have had a year in Spain where he already knew the language and would probably need less time to settle. Seems he's possibly been a little over-ambitious and maybe just wanted to play at the better team, but that's costing him now.

The lads in the championship all seem to be getting regular football and appear to be playing well.
Mubama (Stoke) Alleyne (Watford) Nypan (Boro) and Kabore ( Wrexham) This may be the standard of football that allows our loanees to get experience.
Simpson Pusey is getting no game time at Celtic so that level may be a little too far.

Another pointless loan. Would be better if the players actually listened to the club rather than a young lad thinking they know best.

It’s odd isn’t it, especially as the club pays their wages. You cant refuse a posting in the Forces and say oh I don’t want to go to the Falklands but I’ll go to Cyprus. These young players should be the same - do what your employer says or fuck off.

Is there a possibility to get him back in january and loan him out to another club? Same with Simpson-Pusey, didn´t play one minute.

According to Twitter: Simon Rolfes on Claudio Echeverri's 75 minutes of playing time so far: ‘The team must first gain defensive stability in order to play dominantly – the better we succeed in doing so, the more Claudio and the other offensive players will benefit.’

‘Echeverri's problem is that he doesn't always play as precisely as Kasper Hjulmand would like him to – that's why the manager is currently relying more on tactically reliable players like Jonas Hofmann.’

I am puzzled why Simpson Pusey is not getting time at Celtic. He started a few games for (a depleted) City and looked ok. The standard up there is generally sub Championship so why no game time? Do Celtic have a solid CB pairing or is he just not adapting? I thought he would boss it so if anyone can shed any light please do.

So he has 5 sub app. in the Bundesliga totalling 82 mins?
3 sub app. in the Bundesliga, and 2 in the CL totalling 82 mins.

There has been talk of City recalling him in January. If we are able to do so and his game time does not markedly increase, then we should recall him. There is no point going on loan if you are not playing.

At the time it looked like a good move but if he isn't playing then it isn't good. I don't understand why you have referenced Savinho. Echeverri is 19. I thought there were no squad restrictions on players of that age?

Rumoured to be due to fitness issues that he's not even been in the squad. Defensively they've been okay, it's at the other end they've struggled this season so he's not really been required in any case.

I think there's always a rush around these things, but people have different pathways to the top - if they get there at all. Echeverri should have gone where the club felt he would play and develop more, but equally there's time for it to work at Leverkusen. The fact they sacked Tent Peg so early means the new manager is always going to turn to more experienced players to get results initially.

They're doing okay so hopefully he can start being used more regularly to help them create a bit more in attack. If he can't force his way in there, I don't know why people expect him to walk into our side!

Thanks. Re. Echeverri maybe his people have seen how the Bundesliga has developed talent like Erling, Bellinghams, Snacho etc. and thought that it was a better option than La Liga.

But they didn't want to send him to the Bundesliga. That only came about when he wouldn't go to Girona. They were kicking up a right fuss that we wouldn't loan him to Roma.

According to Celtic fans I know he's been injured.

I can understand why to be honest. The club want to use our assets to help the CFG clubs, which is their right, but Girona have been shite this season and players want to be in the best place for their development rather than going somewhere the club has a tie to.
