30 | Claudio Echeverri - 2025/26 (on loan at Leverkeusen)

If he goes back to River Plate, he might as well call it a day on a career in Europe.

He clearly doesn't have the mentality to make it at the highest level and wants the easier career route.

He has been so badly advised throughout this whole ordeal and City should have stood firm and denied the Leverkusen move.

I actually don't think Girona was the best option, they are poor and he would have barely seen the ball. Where he should have gone was somewhere like a Bologna, Werder Bremen, Fulham type team. Somewhere where there is no pressure to get into Europe and are too good to get relegated.

I think Girona would be good for him. Reis is there who he knows and its Spain so an easier transition for him.

I think he was a bit unfortunate that Ten Hag was sacked so soon after he arrived, and clearly the new fella doesn't rate him. We should cancel his loan and bring him back, and integrate him into our squad.

Certainly don't think Girona is a great option, the way their season is going, though it's pretty tight in the bottom half of the table.

Reis is benefiting as a defender because Girona are getting inundated with attacks week in week out.

This is perfect for an aspiring defender or goalkeeper.

As an attacker I am not so sure.

It would be like sending Echeverri to Wolves and hoping he can get enough time on the ball to show his ability when in reality he won't.

He needs a team that doesn't have the pressure of chasing Europe, is too good to get relegated, but has enough about them that can have good possession and sustained attacks against most teams outside of the top 6.

Girona offer none of that.

The thing is, his stock is lower now than in the summer thanks to what's happened at leverkusen, and Girona will play him if we tell them to. The Roma's of this world, or Fulham's. I think Echeverri would be trading a bench for a bench at those clubs at this point.

I think Leverkeusen ended up being a compromise solution.
He wanted to go to Italy and we wanted him to go to Girona.
In hindsight, had we been able to come to quicker exit strategies for some of our players he may have been able to stay.

He's not good enough to get in those teams yet

You'd like to hope that he's speaking to Pep about his future, because he seemed to rate him, and he's a very good prospect, and most youngsters have some setbacks.
