I was just thinking the same about ‘Blue Moon’. Its first big airing that day, from my point of view at least.
Just edited to Trinity Road stand for accuracy !!

His co-commentator was Ron Atkinson who was getting a fair amount of stick from the City fans in the Witton Lane stand where the camera gantry was situated. How good a Commentator was Brian Moore, pisses all over Tyler's efforts.
We had the poll tax a year earlier in Scotland. The whole thing was much further advanced than in England. Large numbers refused to pay and the Courts were totally clogged-up. Thousands of people ‘disappeared’ to avoid having to pay. I doubt if much of the uncollected tax was ever paid. Not quite - that came in a few months later I think. However, it was the weekend of the famous riots against the Poll Tax
I think this was the match when Bluemoon really took off as a City anthem. What I remember is that the longer the run without an away win went on the bigger our away support got. Everyone wanted to be there to see that first win. We had a huge following at Villa Park that day with pockets of our fans all round the home sections.Remember full Radio coverage all the way down the M6 of the Strangeways riot. Then Bluemoon being banged out by the hordes all afternoon. First time I can remember it being sung so loud.
No one was going to take him seriously as long as he was getting his hair styled at a poodle parlour.I remember Daley scoring a great solo goal for Villa at Maine Road in the 80s, never really seemed to consistently hit the heights he was capable of on his day.
