Ederson, in the nicest possible way, is a total fucking nutter.

But you don’t achieve historical feats with ordinary people and players who are “good enough”.

The best way I can describe him is that he’s like one of those mountain climbers that summit sheer rock faces without a harness.

That’s the kind of mentality we need though. We don’t need players who think that they will succeed. We need players who know that they won’t fail.

Those players are like gold dust but we have three of them in Eddie, KDB and Haaland. It would be ridiculous to take that out of the team and it’s one of the reasons all three play every week.

For me, guys like these are part of the team’s heart and soul.

Don't really understand the nervousness around Ederson. He's not as good as he was between 2017 and 2019 in terms of his reflexes but he's still the best in the league at what he brings to City and he's one of only a few goalkeepers worldwide who plays two positions at once (GK and CB).

I was reading his old thread in the transfer forum (quiet work day...), and I saw this post:

Benfica supporter here, let me be as unbiased as I can.

Ederson is a tremendous goalie with a great field presence. He oozes confidence and that trespasses to the rest of the team, especially the defense. However, for all the praise he is receiving and what is being said in the media, footwork is not his strongest characteristic. I don't know where people first got this idea from. He has an outrageously long kick, and great accuracy, but I never felt like he was that good at working with the ball at his feet near the area, or under pressure for that matter. Seldom does he chose to distribute to the players close to him - on thing Guardiola will have to work on, should he sign for you, is fighting Ederson's urge to kick the ball away.

Weird reading that considering his distribution standards over the years. Guess Pep did a better job than we realised.

Let me help........he takes unnecessary risks and has far too many rushes of blood, and he has never learnt from his mistakes......which makes another similar episode a very realistic occurrence.
