an obvious consequence of keeping the older players, something has got to give with the squad size, and if it's not Kova and Gundo, it will be O'Reilly and Bobb.

Begging to buy him and then use him as 2nd choice LB ? or 5th Choice DM/CM ?

I rate O'Reilly so high, thats why I want him to go on loan and play every game

Next season when the uncs leave, he can come and compete to start every game.
 
IF Kova/Gundo are getting more minutes than both Nicos next year I’ll be disgusted. Both have shown what they can do, and Kova and Gundo have shown what they can’t do anymore this season. We’ve seen what he can do, so he should absolutely be getting decent minutes this season. We’d be insane to let him go.

He should arrive in his final year under contract with 100+ appearances for city which is not bad for 22. Probably some silverware too, and by then we’ll have seen a lot more of him in his natural position and as a pinch hitter in a few spots.

And this is part of the problem transitioning from the older players to younger ones we just seem afraid to do it,and with the comfort blanket of what has been shall still do,we are falling behind in terms of using the youth set up as you mention Chelsea PSG Barca and Madrid,what is the problem of giving them a consistent run..Inexperience you can’t learn if you don’t get given a chance..
 
problems would start when PL match day squads selected and OReilly not even it it in consecutive match days.
or if he is in it, who isnt...
squad is bloated now, might look better in few weeks.

loan is deffo something to think about until Pep makes a decision soon whats his plans. can see LB minutes drying up for OReilly with Ait Nouri arrival. Gvardiol and Ake also can be used as LB, which wasnt the case when Ake was injured hell of a lot and Gvardiol was moved to CB.

dont do the same mistake like "stay or be sold", loan can be a good option short term, ven 6 moths from Janaury if his minutes are very low until January.

if nobody is leaving until the 16th of August, and no injuries apart from Kova, Pep needs to leave 5/6 players out of the squad on first PL game. he will have issues with that as he hates that.
normally it would be the likes of Reis, Echeverri, Lewis, OReilly, Bettinelli, Khusanov, Grealish, as he wouldnt do it to Cherki, or At Nouri or the old guard. but then there were games with Ortega and Carson both selected for the bench instead of another youngster lol:D
obv injuries will change this, on average we always will have 2/3 sometimes even more, but still happened few times where Pep apologized to players not even selecting them for the match day squad despite all the injury issues we had and we had a lot.

Pep using the 5 subs more often not just when we are 5-0 up is also a factor here, those extra 5-10-15 miutes can mean a lot of younger ones feeling included.

The issue is O'Reilly shouldn't have to wait for the likes of Gundogan and Bernardo to leave to play regularly, They should be nowhere near the team especially Gundogan.

O'Reilly would do a much better job for us in the middle of the pitch than Gundo and that's only going off having legs to get around alone.

Pep needs to start playing these lads regularly and stop dicking about with his favourites.

It’s going to bite us on the arse again this season,I thank what the players have done for us but we move on and so should they ..

We all love the likes of Gundo and Bernie absolute legends in my eyes and every other City fans eyes but as you said we have to move on and it's time for these players to move on, that's football.

I've said it weeks ago, Pep is a fucking legend and an absolute genius, but he will do himself out of a job for being so stubborn if he continues to play these players again next season. The hierarchy and Khaldoon won't be so nice this time around of these performances and results continue next season.

Kovacic was actually the best out of these 3. he was far better than gundo and Bernardo. Without him and some of his goals we won’t make the CL. I don’t get the kova hate. He probably wouldn’t mind being a backup + . For me it’s Bernardo and gundo who are the problem in terms of pace and the fact that they get favored too much by Pep.
