33 | Nico O'Reilly - 2025/26

Oozes class this lad. Goes about his business like he's had 20 years in the game. Long way to go but very much in the Maldini mould.
Intelligent, fast and with great composure.
He has the future at his feet. Literally.

A great outcome for all - Nico, City, and England. The last thing you want is a confidence knock to a young player making his way to the highest levels of the game. His humility should guard him against those ebbs and flows but it was nice to see him just playing his usual game: Tuchel is not correct about him being asked to do new things.

Well done Nico O'Reilly...AGAIN!

Excellent pass selection but whilst praised by Lee Dixon for providing Rashford with the extra option it would have been nice if Rashford had occasionally used that option.

Indeed after all the frustration of City not shooting enough it was ironic to witness Rashford and Saka shooting too much, and quite often with better options around them.

I thought he was absolutely superb last night. So calm and composed and always looking to get forwards. Rashford was absolutely shocking and didn't utilise Nico enough when he overlapped him or he could have made even more headlines. Aggressive off the ball as well. Tuchel will have loved what he saw from him.

Fast becoming one of our most valuable players. He’s superb, we’ve certainly solved our left back issue. Great in midfield too, pretty much will become a £100m player, not that we should ever sell him!

Another coup for Pep. He seems to have sorted our left back problem. Nico is great. Thanks to world class coaching and a perfect attitude from Nico. Bloody hell our academy is fantastic. Our kids are all over the world at the elite level.

He makes everything look so easy. Effortless stride and ball control going forward. Surprisingly strong in duels defensively. The fact that his game seems so natural and effortless is a very good sign. He should have had way more mistake moments due to being so young - but, he is much more solid than expected so far.

He is performing very well. Everyone does not need to be a "leader" ref. Tuchel's comments. Excited to watch his development!

bet the lad we got from wolves is gutted!

Was thinking that. Short of injury to Nico O'R, it's difficult to see how he gets back in the team. Especially given the way they're playing at the moment. What must kill him is that he is a specialist left-back. I don't have the impression that he can really play anywhere else. Whereas Nico O'R can play in most places on the pitch.
I don't think we can say he's no good, as some are doing. We simply haven't seen enough of him. It was his misfortune to get injured fairly seriously just at the moment when Nico was getting into his stride. Well, I suppose he'll be called on to play League Cup matches, and early rounds of the FA Cup. I for one would like to see what he can do, and not write him off immediately.
