He earns his money pushing edi and whatshisname everyday in training, nice touch by pep, but I hope to god our main two don't get covid, imagine having carson in nets for the cl final :0

I do wonder if he is retiring at the season. It was a great gesture from us if that is the case

Nice gesture to play him. Obviously a popular guy in the club judging by the reaction at the end.

Unlucky his penalty save still resulted in a goal.

Hope he enjoyed his night.

I bet Richard Wright is quietly fuming that he never got a game in similar circumstances

Fair point.

Only two dead rubber opportunities though. One under Kidd in 2013 and, one under Pellers in 2015.

Pantilimon didn't even get a league appearance in 12/13 (hadn't actually featured in the PL at all by that point) so he had a better case to start.

Plus Carson was at a better level when he joined us, was a Championship number 1, RW was resigned to championship backup. Done well out of his move though, 4 years as a standby, 5 as GK coach, due to his age he could outlast and exceed Brian Kidd's coaching spell with the club.

It was 90% tongue in cheek but good point. The life of the third choice keeper is a strange one indeed. Stuart Taylor made a very lucrative career out of it
