3rd Rd FA Cup - City v Burnley 1500hrs 6/1/18

Back in early 70s when both ko at 15.00 on the same Sat, City had 45000 plus v Spurs and I think Unt had 50000 plus on the same day. No way the Police service we have today will allow this to happen they cannot deal with a Brighton v Palace without telling porkies about the ruffians who go to football.
Yes Dave I think you mean the cup quarters 1969,we had 48,000 v Spurs I was at that game and utd 60,000 v Everton at OT,we then played Everton in the semi.

Pretty sure I remember City playing Chelsea at home attendance 40k in the top of the table first division clash and United playing Forest in a cup quarter final in front of circa 56k in 1989. Like you say cuts and the world we live in now makes it unlikely both could be played simultaneously.
Yes I remember that game, top of the table 2nd division match lost 3-2,rags also lost that afternoon.

I seem to remember being at Maine Road for our game against Grimsby while that lot played some outfit in the chumpions league as well (Keegans promotion season)
Yes, I remember that and a similar clash happened when we played Pompey in a 2nd tier match at Maine Rd and they were in a CL QF against Porto, late 90s.

Also remember us playing Forest at Maine Road on August bank holiday Monday in 1999 and United being at home the same day. We were a 3pm kick-off and I think they kicked off a couple of hours earlier than us.

I was at the game City beat a very good Spurs team that day, understand it got a little tasty in town after the games as City And United fans made sure that the visiting fans left Manchester forthwith.
