The only thing that Hughes has got right in recent weeks is playing a 4-4-2 yesterday.

Yes we lost, but this was not due to the formation, it was due to the players not being interested in playing for Hughes.

We need two strikers upfront, but not Vassell and Benjani - maybe Robinho and Santa Cruz. We're also crying out for a left midfielder ie Petrov - one of the best I've seen. Robinho is not suited to left mid at all. In fact I think we'd be more effective with someone like Downing at left mid than Robinho.

You're right about Petrov on the left. We have definitely missed him. I dont understand playing Stevie Ireland on the left. He cannot get into the game from out wide. We have had the best from him when he plays in the middle running from box to box. I think playing Ireland wide left illustrates Hughes' tactical weakness.

Not sure if Santa Cruz is the answer but I don't see who else is available.

He got it right playing 4-4-2?

Against the bottom of the league, playing two defensive midfielders?
The player of the season so far, out on the left wing where he was isolated....

Two forwards who couldn't hold the ball up...and are inept in front of goal?

We held the ball well, but just didn't create anything...
When we did get a decent ball into the box, no-one was on the end of it!

Its clear that hughes wants to play 4-4-2, but we havent got the fit players to play it.
Its the right formation with Shaun and petrov playing. But we dont have the right central midfielders
to play this. No-one to link the play...

Think we move for Babel. Seriously, he is complaining about no playing time at Liverpool and he's being used as a winger which he doesn't like. He is his best at Striker. Let's get him in here.

Disagree about Robinho though. He's performed well from that area this season. It's apparently helped him adjust to the English game much quicker than expected.

I was happier seeing 4-4-2 with SWP back to his wide role.

Correct , that poster who said that we are missng Petrov on the left. We need cover for that position.

Why can't we give Weiss a run out ? He can play on either wing. The lad is special.
