Not sure I understand the thought process putting him into a position he doesnt play against a tough and physical midfield with Ginn and Onana etc.

Our main issue is our poor dealings in the market the last 2-3 years. We always seem to be trying to unearth a gem nowadays instead of going out getting the best out there. For instance Caicedo would have sorted our midfield out for 10 years we're pissing about with the like of Philips Nunes and by the looks of things this lad. Hope he improves because there is something there but he looks well short of what's needed at present to me.

Caicedo was awful for about 6 months when he joined Chelsea, he's coming good now but please afford Reijnders the same grace.

I watched Silva at Valencia and loved him. I was at his debut and it took 10 minutes to realise he would be great for us - he may not have scored early doors but the talent was obvious

Now, Riejnders is no Silva but he’s got something. Unfortunately for him, what he lacks at this stage is the ability/capability to hold players off, win the ball and catch players up who have ran past him. Not a great combination for any midfielder, let alone one starting in defensive midfield away at Villa

Maybe he does need taking out and with Cherki and Marmoush coming back that does give us options but I have faith in him - if(big if) one of those chances go in V United and the shot V Monaco go in, I think we would be saying so far so good. However, ifs, buts and maybes don’t win leagues. Delivery does

I don't think Silva was shit early on, but it's worth comparing the two.

Reijnders has played 16 games for City. In that time he's contributed 1 goal and 3 assists.
After 16 games for City, Silva had 2 goals and 4 assists.

Might sound utterly mental but I actually think period of success might’ve made us less attractive for top players. We’d literally done it all, completed the lot. Whereas you get an Arsenal who haven’t won anything in the past 20 years and players have an opportunity to carve there name in the history books there. Players care about stuff like that.

Of course i might be sprouting bollocks but I do think there is something in that. We’d literally completed football, perhaps the only way was down.

Still not excusing how poor that window was post treble because as you say, we on top of the world but still couldn’t attract the likes of Bellingham and Rice.

I remember thinking similar years back when we we're competing with united for someone, not sure who, possibly Sanchez I guess. I wondered why would anyone want to go there to be just another player, when they could join us and make history, become legends? We're possibly on the receiving end of this a bit now. Possibly. I do think the end to the charges will be a help as well though, if that ever happens.

Madrid have national press backing them, and even our press bigging them up at every opportunity. We've never had that element of cheerleading working as propaganda for us.

Savinho is getting all the criticism but Reijnders has disappointed more, imo.

Expected more from him, but it's still early in the season and hopefully he brings his Serie A form soon.

I get that, but uncertainties like that make clubs less appealing.

Conversely, when the new manager takes over, we may well become more appealing again if the project put forward looks good.

Joining an existing project 9 years in isn’t as exciting as being at the start of a new one.

Agreed, added to that he's playing under Pep now and that takes time to adjust too.
What happened to giving non British players a season to settle?!

He was thrown in and has always been available, but with other players coming back from injury, he could do with a bit of a break.

He looks a good player though and we definitely needed a box to box midfielder like him and he's had a couple of decent chances in the last few games.
I like him & think he'll do well for us.

Agreed but he'd been excellent for Brighton. The warning signs are there with Reijnders relatively old was playing in Holland until his mid 20s, not many caps etc.

There is something there but the more I see the more I think he's too lightweight and not what we needed. We are crying out for someone who can play alongside Rodri/Nico. I'd be all in for Whatron personally.
