4 | Tijjani Reijnders - 2025/26

Wolves (A) aside, I dont recall him having another decent game

In fact, im not entirely sure he was great in that game, but just happened to score two and create another

We absolutely needed him to be more involved in our all round play, but hes just got an eye for goal

With Doku, Semenyo and Cherki adding goals, assists and general threat, I honestly dont see the point in having Rjeinders around if he isnt capable of being a central midfielder

Sorry but i have seen enough of this guy, one good game in ten is no use for a team with title ambitions , Serie A to the Premier league is a massive step up , when you see clowns like McTominay looking good it proves how shite 90% of Serie A teams are.
He isnt even a good impact player from the bench he makes us worse , he's had six months and hasnt improved or fitted into our style of play , looking forward to his next decent game/goal in March.

I’m really hoping he comes good, but just not seeing it at the moment. He was the signing I was most excited about from Summer window.

Im confused by this signing. He was billed as a top box to box midfielder and I thought he would play next to Nico or Rodri and bring physicality and mobility to the midfield.

I saw an interview with a diehard Milan fan (not sure if it was on Esteemed Komoany’s channel) who more or less said he wasn’t willing to defend and he only offered going forward. He did play much deeper in his first season at Milan and was less effective apparently.

Not sure where he fits in the team. He’s not creative enough to be carried defensively.

Maybe we play him close next to Haaland to crash the box, but we arguably have better number 10s

I, who had no worries about him at the start of the season, am now more than concerned.

I don't think it's a question of adaptation; his level is simply insufficient. With the ball, he seems to have a below-average football IQ, and without the ball, I'm not even sure he's much better than Cherki (less technique and talent, of course).

The worst part is, I don't see him improving; he'll be 28 soon. I've reached the point where I'd rather see Savinho come on than him, he annoys me so much.

How can he be billed as a box to box midfielder when you watched a Milan fan tell you he’s a goal scorer and creator which he has continued since he joined here btw.

People seem to be annoyed he’s not the midfielder they wanted rather than the lad himself which is bizarre

Again today he could have won the game, only player who looked even close to scoring in the second half.

He’s a wet. I don’t like harking back but, he would have been swallowed up in training back when Fern, Kompany etc were there. He needs a meeting with Andy Morrison

I’m not annoyed at all, just surprised that the majority of our fan base and media saw him as a box to box midfielder, and it’s becoming more and more evident that is not the case.

We have multiple players who can create, cherki, doku, foden when on form, work around the striker and score.

Last summer I thought our main priority was to shore up the midfield and protect our defence, and that reijnders was the man to do that. Just confused by the signing and that we didn’t sign a box to box midfielder when that was obviously our biggest issue last season. Just a question on recruitment, nothing bizarre about it

Absolutely bottle less. Was too busy worried about getting hurt to get the header chance on target. Completely peripheral in any game he plays.

This is right, and sadly also applicable to other signings.

All summer I was questioning this deal in the transfer forum because I didnt see what he offered besides the goals which btw was 1 great goalscoring season and all the rest before it were below average returns. Got a tonne of pushback from it telling me this lad is mustard, serie A poty for a reason, he'll single handedly solve our entire midfield issues slotting straight in the 8 position, etc etc. Seems like even before he signed, people were fantasizing about getting a player he simply isn't.

Im actually now probably one of his nicest critics judging by the comments in here and I think that is simply because I saw what he was and knew what we were getting from the off and so didnt have this high expectation he'd fail to reach.

I don’t think you can ever have enough goal scorers but that’s beside the point.

I think Kovavic is a very capable box to box but we couldn’t have foreseen his injury. This summer will be one of several more departures and Anderson in as the midfield energy

I hope you’re right that we get Anderson in or equivalent who brings energy to the midfield this summer, because we were crying out for that type of player last season in my opinion

Just cannot read the play defensively at all. When the ball is played behind him (which is regularly) he seems to turn and is shocked that a player (who has usually found space so easily) is behind him. Like he has no clue at all that hes there. Then hes not quick or physical enough to catch up. Doesn't help control the play when we're in possession with anything meaningful at all at the moment. Does get into positions to score at least but hasnt been finishing, so what have you got? Not a lot unfortunately
