4 | Tijjani Reijnders - 2025/26

Lots of players take a few games to get up to the blitzkrieg speed of the PL, so let’s cut the guy some slack. He was the Serie A midfielder of the season, so he’s hardly a dud.
What is of admitted concern though is that in the 2 (out of 3) PL games where we’ve been kicked and pressed by the opposition, Reijndeers has offered fuck all - either defensively or offensively. I barely noticed he was on the pitch today

Spot on and that’s my point. A bit of a theme that we pull out of deals for Rice, Wirtz and go for these “under radar” purchases which aren’t cheap and from where I sit also aren’t good enough.
You seem to spend most of your time in the middle of Lidl

AWOL defensively leaving us exposed (again)...offered nothing going forward
Can’t blame him defensively he was our AM today and had two midfielders behind him I didn’t think he was bad today some good runs but lost the ball cheaply as well don’t really think he is the problem going forward

Gonzalez is far better than Reijnders defensively wise. The latter is better going forward.

I'd play Rodri and Gonzalez behind Reijnders.

He’s not been helped by having to do two jobs today as Bernardo may as well have not bothered. Can’t judge him after 3 games especially after coming from a much slower league.

Another player who was a rolls Royce of a player at another club. I watched quite a bit of Serie A last season as the PL was dull at times. He stood out by a country mile in most games. He glided past players.

He's come to us and looks absolutely lost. Wolves apart who will be fighting relegation, he has been totally underwhelming.

What is it with us and grrat players turning poor when they don the blue shirt?!

Disappointing and anonymous again yesterday, hopefully it’s just down to settling in as we did see what he can do at CWC and Wolves

Scott McTominay looks shit hot in Serie A.

To be fair, I think McTominay is a decent player but still...

Anyway Reijnders has plenty of quality. We're just unable to get the best out of out players these days. Even our proven players like Dias and Foden have fallen off a cliff.

Something needs to change. Lots of excellent players are struggling.

I think Pep is serving up turgid football and has done for 18mths. Reijnders looks devoid of any confidence and flair in the past two weeks.

It's not all on Pep though, it's quality of players. I agree though he must be more flexible especially nowadays with how defensively organized opposition are

Blitzkrieg you say, what at the pace we play at?

Barely noticed him or his pearly whites this past fortnight?

Hes a good player. Fans are very reactive. He still needs to get used to the prem league, we are only 3 games in the season.

Agreed, he impressed in the first game and showed his potential. We need that defensive midfield support behind him so he can excel further up the pitch.

never heard of him before the transfer. Xavi Simmons is more highly rated than him. We have signed him on the basis of 1 good season

We play slower than anyone else is used to. We pay too much attention to not losing the ball and too little to getting it up the field as quickly as possible.

Personally i think, TJ, Marmoush, Bobb and Erling would rather a quicker more explosive offense. The sooner they can bring the others along and speed up our play, the better.

I zm not one bit worried by turnovers caused by a good faith effort to speed things up.

I thought he was very good in both Wolves and Brighton. Weaker against Spurs. But overall a B plus so far in the PL
