4 | Tijjani Reijnders - 2025/26

Shite for 3rd game running.. Not sure how he's seemingly become an automatic full 90minuter

Can only assume it's pep trying to get him used to the league asap as I think the pace and lack of time on the ball has caught him out. I think he'll come good, but atm counter attacks break down with him and he looks lightweight.

He looked better towards the end of the game once the pressure was off but he has a long way to go.

Id currently be starting Nico G over him. If I didn't think Nico O should be left back until RAN finds his feet I'd be playing him ahead of him too.

The one thing that stood out was how many late runs he makes to have chances to score - yes he should have scored but if he keeps making those runs he will get into double figures this year. Don't forget he's still new to the pace of this league and will only get better.

The amount of times Foden had to stay deeper to cover was crazy. Needs more time so early in the season

Crazy talk!

Nico G got 10 mins and still looked leggy and out of sorts, even though I recognize it’s hard to come into a game on 80+ mins.

Reijnders is QUALITY and just needs to bed in. He’s brand new to the team and the League, and both of them are at a very high level.

Don’t expect we will see much consistency from him until next year. He’s clearly struggling with the pace of the English football and will need some time to adjust.

And how did he miss that open goal???

needs to do more but suspect he's getting an automatic place because we are short in midfield.

Still he is no worse than Wirrz(!) and about a £100mill cheaper......

I was hoping he would be Gundo#2..I'll reserve my full judgement until later in season.
And open goal is when there is an empty net in front of you, like the strange Haaland miss, Reijnders missed a one on one not an open goal.

I think he's a quality player but it's going to take some time for him to get fully up to speed to the prem and Pep. The flashes are there - the consistency will come, imo
Not concerned one bit with him. Has the skill but hasn’t played often enough in games with so much pace and intensity. Don’t think playing in a double pivot suits him, but it’s necessary for the time being to get Rodri match fit and back to form.

Could have had a goal and assist and everyone will be praising him.

He will adapt to the system better with every game.

I thought that was on purpose tbh. Reijnders is like Gundogan, always going to look to make a late run into the box, so I assume Peps instructing Foden to drop off when he does to protect us.

I don’t think Reijnders is going forward against orders.

Was quite poor today ,but hopefully will improve. One little thing that drives me crazy is ,when a player misses a great chance and then laughs over it ,did the same when Haaland missed his sitter. Dont like that kind of attitude at all ,but that is on me and my personality.

From day 1 I've said he wont work for us as an 8 to start with. He has to be in the 10 role, at least in the immediate future until he is given the chance to develop into being an 8. Right now he leaves us wide open in midfield and isn't up to thr speed ofnthe game yet. Even though Foden was fantastic. I think the side would have been better with bernardo next to rodri, reijnders as the 10 and foden roaming off the right. We'll get bummed by Arsenal if he plays as an 8 against them.

My only observation is that it’s good to see a City midfield player up in support of the strikers.

Don’t think we’ve seen this since Gundo was in his pomp (not that I am comparing them or claiming he had a good game today).

Perhaps patience is required

Won’t work in a double 6 pivot ATM. Regardless of how good his partner is. He’s a bit suicidal with his passing into dangerous areas but that’ll come with time. Think he’ll get loads better once he get used to the speed.

Needs to improve when we haven’t got the ball, his positional sense, tackling and interceptions all need upgrading, coaching staff need to work on this during training imo.
