4 | Tijjani Reijnders - 2025/26

If Reijnders avoids injuries, he will be a beast. And that’s actually something you can already bet money on today.

The difference between the PL and other leagues is mostly the average pace and physicality. Especially the former, which requires getting used to in terms of a decision-making speed.

And Pep, together with his staff, teaches that better than anyone. It’s no coincidence that we’ve had so many players who needed a bit more time, but it was worth the wait. The best examples are Pep’s specialty: the holding midfielders. Rodri was genuinely a little above average in his first season, and later went on to win the Ballon d’Or as the only DM in history (the closest comparison would probably be Modrić, though Modrić is more of an 8 than a 6 in my book). Nico was a very different player just 10 months ago and today the improvement is huge.

Reijnders has been poor more often than good this season and still has 6 assists. Only Cherki has more: 7. He has two goals, he should have 10. He finds himself in chances with great ease, much like Gundogan. Reijnders will bring a lot of joy in the future and maybe even a huge amount.

Again, i was pushing back against a seeming generalization about his performances that has become automatic.
Saying they are all professional who would do things to pass it to their teammate is an attempt to understate his contribution.

He was quite good in this game. I actually thought the claim was going to be that this was terrible competition and thus seemingly his level. But the notion that he was anonymous or poor is simply not compatible with the evidence from yesterday.
I must agree.

This. Reminds me of Ilkay and the shit he got when he first joined us. Give Tijani a chance, he has the ability, he is just struggling in the new league right now, it will come.

Yeah just one look at the Gundogan 17/18 or the 20/21 (before he decided to become a goal-scorer supreme) threads highlight more than anything the need for patience with a player

Pre-match threads in 17/18 legitimately had people asking if Gundogan had incriminating pictures of Pep every time he got picked

This remains to be seen.

For me, we saw the true Reijinders in his first game for us - and since then, he's lost his way.

Give him a season to adapt to the P/L... and then let's see.
I don't know why so many people don't want to give players time.to adapt when we have seen it with plenty of players under pep take time and it's often the second season when you really see it.

The ones he passed on to Savinho apparently!

He was kinda like a second striker, but didn't create much and more tried to score.

Although its still a role that suits him better than deeper (and this sacrified Foden to LW), I wish he would back himself to make that killer pass more often.

Against low bottom teams

Thats still good tho

But against Forrest , Savio should be there.
We missing widht badly

And Doku
I don't think we're missing width at all. If anything, having an additional man or two in midfield is allowing us to create better chances.
