I don't see it with him tbh, he has pace which is great and clearly wants to throw himself into a tough challenge with a few shoulder barges and slide tackles. I have yet to see him cope with a 1v1 defensive issue well, he isn't able to press infront of strikers to disrupt holdup play, his passing is very 1 dimentional if its not inside to the cb its lazy to the rb /the right winger running back towards him.

The verdict is still out but I want to see him attempting some progressive passes as relying on Dias to play every ball into midfield is non sensical. I also would like to see him dispossessing people on the press and holding his own defensively.

He is young but for me has a lot of learning to do

Why waste Gvardiol’s attacking qualities by stifling him at centre back?

He’s just about the best deeplying playmaker anywhere. Attacking from deep positions, his first touch, first time passing, quality of passing, one-twos in and around the box, under lapping runs in and around the box, shooting and headed goal threat are all incredible.

He’s just a fairly good defender.

Leave the future defending at City to players like Khusanov, Reis and Bah with Dias to bring them up with him.

Let’s develop Gvardiol as a left sided deep attacker even further than we have already.

Exactly this. In the video it more or less hides her, so I’m presuming it is a cultural thing.

Can only be good for him as a man, too, to have his life settled down and mapped out at such an early age.

Everything so far points to this kid being nothing other than phenomenal for us.
