Khusanov would not be starting as he is in any of the other top english sides due to a few sides of his game that need removing out.

Last few games he's got yellow carded and been subbed because of it.

Dias hasnt been out of form, no surprise we were at our defensive best last season when it was Dias and Gvardiol as the two cbs no?

I just find it astonishing the club would be willing to bet £33m on a player that might be good in the future. Same with Reis who was similar money.

I can understand Juma Bah being viewed like that at £6m.

You don't spend that sort of money, especially when we were in such a defensive crisis at the time on a player that might not be a regular for another couple of years, and even then it's still up in the air.

That's the trouble Chelsea have been finding themselves in. Buying young players for obscene amounts because all of their statistical metrics on the scouting databases match up to the player being a world beater in 5 years. Football doesn't work like FIFA career mode.

Lewis played a lot due to injuries or being able to do the job vs average teams. Khusanov played in 9 games when we had injuries. The injured players are back and Khusanov doesn't play. It's that simple.

You don't go far in football if you don't start the best players and rely on personal favourites.

Time will tell why Pep doesn't play Khusanov. It's certain that he looks at far more attributes than fans.

We were pretty poor against average teams last season, it's clear that a lot of the players Pep is playing aren't at the level required, but he's hoping that somehow they will get back to form, we'll see next season what will happen.

There's a reason why we are not employed at football clubs in any capacity and those in charge are.

You don’t need to be employed . Everyone makes mistakes. And this one is clearly one same with the Gonzalez transfer. We buy players not to play them for whatever reasons and you can see the Potential for this guy. He must started to regret it not moving to Newcastle or Madrid.
Because no matter how good he is - certain players will always start in front of him. Can only hope pep gave those certain players minutes as a reward for the last years and Viana goes airborne and sorts this out.

£33m isnt that much for a defender these days. Possible that we've bought him and Reis (about £60m total) with a hope that one of them will be right and we'll get decent money back for the other.

A reminder that this guy was 21 in February and has arrived in a new country, new league, new teammates, and a new style of play.
His stats were among the very best for U21 defenders in the top five leagues: he is a super prospect.
He will play some games and will miss some games. There is no rush for him to be thrown into a failing team, nor to replace world-class, fit defenders. He will be bedded in, and will get opportunities to show that he is ready. The fatalism of some posters is ridiculous.

I'd believe that if it wasn't for the fact that we've seen players who were clearly not good enough get plenty of game time this past year.
