45 | Abdukodir Khusanov - 2025/26

Not sure he managed many passes - except those passing responsibility to the nearest blue legs. Lucky not to get booked before he did, just lost on the flank - a really disappointing cwc debut.

Thanks for getting back , I like him but the way some on here are talking is like he is the saviour and certainly he is not , got some good attributes but if can’t sort his passing out he won’t make it here

He misplaced 5 passes out of 68 (92.7% accuracy). Slightly worse than Gvardiol (94.1%) but Khusanov played 4/5 accurate long passes as against Gvardiol's 4/7. Not disastrous but certainly a bit rusty as some of those "accurate" passes were still low quality in terms of how much work the receiving player had to do

Akanji had the most touches and passes, hitting 98% accuracy from 107 passes, which is lovely stuff

You'd think RCB would be an ideal position for Khusanov but he still ended up on the ball in high and wide areas more than suits him. He looks good when he's actually defending, and more like a passenger when he's not (see also: K. Walker)

He can definitely defend 1 on 1 or at least get back if he or someone else fucks up , he is rapid I think that is why chaps on here rate him but if he can’t sort out out to play to a blue shirt within 5 or 10 yards he won’t make it at City , the amount of times he just passed the ball out of play was unreal .

I like him but if he can’t improve on passing simple balls he won’t make it here , please note I saw a great crossed yard ball against Spurs .

Think he's the business, personally.

Obviously I'd rather his gaffes weren't quite so box office but sometimes when he's closing his attacker down it's like watching a barn owl go for a fieldmouse.

We've just conceded 2 goals soon after halftime. Easily getting behind our highline. Get Akanji and Ake on either side of Dias, that'll sort it.
More like drop Dias to play Khusanov. Would much rather either of those two or Stones next to Khusanov instead of Dias.

Like someone said, it was a great learning experience to just sit on the bench, better than not being in the squad at all like at the end of the season.

It was also a great learning experience watching Dias, Ake and Akanji have a defensive masterclass.

If we are going to play with such a high defensive line, Ruben Dias cannot play against fast players. We see this time after again. By the way, same with Akenji. I don't understand why Pep doesn't give Khusanov minutes.
No one understands it either at this point, it makes absolutely zero sense from a football point of view.

Need to fast track him to 1st team imo.

The game is getting physical fast on the counter, height, speed, if we want to play this high line possession system, you need fast CBs to handle the counter.

Khusanov has proven he is that guy.

He was benched at the end of the season to save £5M. He wasn’t needed with players coming back, so City saved the add on.

Make sure he is in the squad, with Reis, every game, and give them both as much time as possible, because the combined ages of Stones, Dias, Ake and Akanji doesn’t bear thinking about. Josko is still young and has had his share of fuck ups, yet he was our most played player last season and POTY!

Khus and Vitor need time on the field. I’ve been very impressed by Reis. Plays like a young Johnnie Stones!
