45 | Abdukodir Khusanov - 2025/26

Quiet strength, despite playing left center back next to Stones on the right, I expected him to have trouble getting back into position, not at all. It didn't pose a problem for him with the left-footed pass or two or three long passes with his right foot.

Sooner or later, he'll take his place in the starting 11 and he won't move. You'd have to be blind not to see his qualities and keep him on the bench.

It’s the protection walker gave us. He is it.

Yeah. I think it's necessary we have a player like that. The way we play with so many men forward, it comes with huge danger if you lose the ball, as we have been seeing last season especially. Without someone who can make those recoveries, you essentially give teams a free run at goal if they turn possession over quickly. Teams can basically make it their game plan against us if they feel none of our defenders can recover it.

We've ended up with masses of CBs because of all the injuries and trying to plug the gaps.

Dias and Stones are our best 2. But stones is rarely fit. Gvardiol is going to be a great CB as well.
We don't yet know the final squad, but I hope that Khus is a central fixture.

He’s got Mario’s shirt number, Mario’s pace, Mario’s ability and seems to be a bit mental like our Mario was.

This lad is going to be a superstar, he’s fucking brilliant. No fucking around with his tackling, pace to burn, can pass a ball, good in the air and great awareness.

Spoke to a Forest mate after the game when we played (and lost) at the City Ground last season who volunteered to me “that kid at the back is some player”.

Don’t quite understand why some people can’t see how good a footballer this lad is going to be.
Danny Tiatto reborn with footballing ability?

Some people, including ESPN pundits, are still basing his ability on the first 10 minutes of his debut

*I still maintain that Akanji was to blame for that. He left the lad in the lurch, Akanji should have taken responsibility

Ideally our future CB pairing is Khusonov and Gvardiol. I’m fine with it in the very near future. But one of those two have to always play
I’d be happy with them two and stones inverting from RB or even those three with ait nouri and if absolutely necessary Nunes as wingbacks

Granted it was only 2nd Tier Italian opponents, but there was lots to like from Khusa in that first 45 mins, including distribution and most importantly speed.

Just hope he gets enough minutes so he can continue to progress.

Khusanov was mostly OK. Fucked up big time by letting the ball bounce in the box on defense leading to a scoring opportunity for Palermo. He's young though - and hopefully will learn from this.
