He’s done the same amount of training as every other squad member, it takes its toll. And frankly I would rather none of our players played internationals ever.
He needs games desperately as he isnt getting much currently at City. Playing in a major tournament over the summer wouldnt do him any harm in his development. I know Pep keeps saying he will take over over from david silva next season, but considering david has only played 90 minutes a handful of times this season it doesnt seem he will be starting next season week after week.

You could be right regarding game time, trouble is even if he’s shoehorned into the England squad I don’t think he’ll play any more than the tiniest bit part

Yeah your right there i think. In all honesty he has pretty much zero chance of going to euros when he gets so little game time for City. Is there an u21 tournament this summer?

Wayne Rooney had a stellar career. Judging him in the twilight of his years isn't balanced. And if you believe his smoking and getting over weight was because he played when he was young then I'd disagree with that and put it more down to his upbringing, his personality, his friends and so on. But look let's put Wayne Rooney to one side. What about Ryan Giggs? Actually, let's bring it closer to home, what about David Silva? At 18 he was playing over 25 games per season out on loan. This is the fundamental point, players at that age need to play to develop.

Anyway the bigger question I raised was do people think Foden is developing at about the right pace, being held back or is actually being developed better than you expected. I believe he should have more minutes than he's had. And if he can't get it in the first team he should yo out on loan.
Twilight? He was finished at the top by26/27

Its not a hard concept to grasp.Grealish is a player of similar standing in that he is a talented attacking English central midfield player...and the national side do not have a playmaker..there is a big tournament this summer and genuine football fans are wondering who will supply the bullets for englands attack.
Thats why people mention Grealish when discussing Phil Foden.
Several have said the same age which is clearly wronh
