47 | Phil Foden - 2023/24

It's not an issue. Messi played most games under Pep as a right-winger drifting inside. KDB, Phil and Bernardo float about all over the pitch. Now KDB is back, Phil is looking even more dangerous than before as he is able to receive the ball in much more advanced positions either centrally or out wide.

This is a fair analysis actually. Outside of a couple of guys like Grealish and Doku, we're mostly positionless once you go past Rodri. Obviously Haaland is rooted up front as you'd expect.

I agree with that and he's got a great understanding with Kev now i'm not sure it really matters where he lines up, as long as he's on the pitch.

He's very good, isn't he?

It's fucking crazy that former youth players like Palmer, Diaz and Frimpong are now regular starters for world-famous clubs and yet none are good enough for regular starts here. Foden is here because he's an unbelievable talent.
And somehow doesn't regularly start for England

Phil Foden's biggest problem is when he heads to England camp, the level of football he has to put up with drops dramatically!

It’s no coincidence that the other squad players pick him out as the most skillful baller in the squad, because he’s probably a Rondo King at City, too.

The attacking midfield, with Phil, KDB, Bernardo, and even Rodri and Nunes when they play further forward, is too fast mentally and physically to pin down.

All three goals came from the inside right channel run from KDB, which is made possible by the perfectly weighted pass that springs him and the movement of the other players. KDB was a bit lucky his block tackle fell for Bernie, but Bernie being Bernie, he just said “thank you very much” and dinked the keeper!!

When players like Phil & Bernie see KDB in there, they know there’s food and drink on the end of the pass!

Glad to see Phil having a crack more often, and his form has steadily grown this season to where he is probably POTS to date.

Here’s hoping all the ankle tapping and leg sweeps on him don’t damage him too badly. Seems like he gets a knock or two every game.

Long may he continue to shine in a City shirt. Real Madrid, which is the only place I could possibly see him leaving for, if anywhere, could do a lot worse than putting him into an attacking midfield with Bellingham on one side and Phil on the other, esp if Mbappe & Vini Jr are going to be the forward runners!!
