i take it you dont have to move either lol

Your post is too gentle de niro. Try kneeling on a bit of gripper-rod before posting, but I agree with the sentiment. Those who've been dragged through the last thirty years would take anything better than the season before. I'm not fazed one bit if we don't get the Holy Grail of CL. I think that none of the contenders for fourth place, bar us, can confidently go in to CL and EPL with strong teams for both, and the extra matches involved in Europa league would not stretch our squad. And we should build on Fulham's example, one more goal and they in the Final.

I agree with you youngman 100%.

Thread of the year!

As I've posted elsewhere, I'm just happy that we'll almost certainly be in Europe. It means more games in which to support City, regardless of whether they occur on a Wednesday or Thursday night. It's another front to fight on, and all the ups and downs that that entails.

And, God forgive me, I reckon we would go about twice as far in the Uefa Cup as we would in the CL. The idea of us contesting a Champions League quarter-final next year is too fucking mental, even for the most optimistic of fans.

Also, agree about the signings - refreshing the lies on the transfer forum all summer is probably one of the more enjoyable areas of my life.

Two points about the importance of 4th vs 5th

1) 4th obviously helps in player recruitment over the summer (but its worth remembering that no CL football didn't stop us getting Tevez + Adebayor)

2) 4th place is way behind 3rd place in getting CL football.

4th spot simply gets you into a play-off to enter the group stages and City's UEFA co-efficient is so low that we would be in weaker pot and guaranteed to play vs one of the 5 highest ranked teams (could be Sevilla / Lyon / Werder Bremen / Ajax / Zenit St Petersburg ) based on current standings etc.

These will all be teams with far more European experience than us ... so would be very tricky game whoever we get.

Bottom Line: I'm trying not to get too worked up over 4th spot because we could well get knocked out at first hurdle (like Everton did a few years ago) and end up in Europa league anyway.

i am always upbeat when we kick towards the opponents goal :)

Mancini's got the right idea, he wants to win every trophy possible, what would be the point in skipping the Europa League trophy? in the next 2 seasons, we will win the Prem, Europa, and CL trophies, how's that for progress?!?! ;-)

Good thread, its nice to see there are some city fans out there who enjoy watching us, by the sounds of some of the people who use this site alot are on suicide watch.
I for one love watching city every minute, with the time difference here i have to wait until the early hours to catch the games, leaving me giddy all day.

What a good thread, a beacon of shining light admist the doom, and constant bitching that is Bluemoon at present.
Of coarse I want 4th, but 4th, 5th or 6th it's been a great ride, as a 30 year old this has been the best season I can fully remember, and this summer is only going to get better, Im sure we'll sign one or two great players, get rid of some players, could be manager changes, maybe even changes further up the club, who know's, one thing it's going to be great, im wishing my life away because I too cant wait to see our line up next season, I love City.

.

You forget. Leeds the wank United got to the S/F a few years back with very little in the way of prior experience. It can be done.
