5 | John Stones - 2024/25

Will they fuck, because the enjoyment they get by playing for their countries in places like Macedonia and Latvia is unbelievable, and then moan about how many games they play.
No, just simply because, like Olympians and other National Sports Stars they play for their country because they are proud of being able to represent us.

If I was able or had some skill that enabled me to represent my country I would also be proud and I applaud all players of all Nationalities who are proud to represent their country. :-) JMHO

Yes they are proud i agree, but once you are a club before country supporter like I have been for over 40 years I tend to have the "don't care" attitude, but I do care when they are knackered or injured playing against some third world country and fatigued through flying etc etc.

I know you are Stones's stalwart on here, and I'm not knocking that but time catches up with everyone I'm afraid, and he's not winning nothing with England is he?

Had 2 shots at doing so and failed both times, (not him) ,I mean the collective, sometimes it's time to call it a day

because he wants to go it seems. and his form until the last 2 game in my view was not good - we were conceding some soft shots, even the own goal from dias at west ham he doesnt react quickly enough. you can never point the finger at him amd say ‘he should have saved it’ but a great shot stopper pulls off an incredible save on some of them and he rarely does one of those

his big USP is his distribution but the opposition dont press us anymore like they did in 2018. they know to drop off and therefore we dont need his great play with the football
I dont know what you have been watching all these years , he briefly toyed with saudi but decided to stay after talking to pep

To say he doesnt make saves is utter bollocks , do you actually watch the games ? And did you watch the cl final ?

Well, if we are comparing years, I've been supporting City and football for over 69 years, 70 come May next year. (just being daft there because however long we have supported them doesn't really matter.)

I was not just referring to John Stones in my previous message, just stating a fact about every player.
As for them not winning anything with England there's still time (in their minds) so they will go on fighting. I always post about City fighting to the end and I guess the National players will fight to the end. Rodders did and look where it got him.

I truly understand and to a certain extent agree with what you say but I also know that we will never stop footballers wanting to win everything in sight. So I guess we just agree to partly agree partly disagree on whether they should play for just their team or their team and their country. :-)

My problem is I start to see both sides of the argument. Sorry. :-)

But (tongue in cheek time) John Stones will still be a City player when he is 90 just like Mike Summerbee. :-) :-)

I'm off to the hospital now so won't be able to reply (in necessary) for a few hours. :-) :-)

Jeez its a good job John doesn’t have that “lets give up” attitude isn’t it lol

We just got to a final, there’s every chance we could go one step further next time. He’s arguably englands best defender as well. Of course he’s going to want to represent his country in his prime.

You say your club before country. I’m going to bet pretty much all of our players if they had the chance would pick the other way round.

There comes a point in your career when you have to look after your body, he and Walker particularly should consider their futures with the National team.

Do you think our UCL final and win against Inter was his finest hour and honour?

I would and I would say that game is now bigger than any international fixture, the National games are no longer the pinnacle of football in my opinion.
