The comments on here tonight compared to the comments after the Newcastle game. It was inevitable he would break down at some point soon if he’s going to play 3 games in a week. We all know his body can’t do that now. So must Pep. His minutes should have been managed better. At 3-0 up against Newcastle he should have been one of the first players subbed off. Didn’t happen and here we are again. Say he’s finished, made of glass, get rid etc. But how about not flogging him until the inevitable happens again.

Stones has missed 46% of City’s games played since he signed for us.
Imagine if he’d been fit for 92% of them instead!

Such a shame, sad for him and us. A great player plagued by injuries. Just so glad he was injury free in the treble season and he could show the world his qualities in the final when he got MOTM.

That’s his level when he’s fit, but only 54% of the games available to him played in 9 years is sad.

Personally no with Huijsen but get a more experienced defender in. We already have potential with both Khusanov and Reis.
What is this experience. Isn’t Huijsen already one of the best CB in this league?

Absolutely love him to death but he just can’t stay fit. I’d be in favour of keeping him if we could get rid of Ake and Akanji and get somebody else in.

He is far from it. Just because he is having a good season at Bournemouth doesn't mean he is going to be the right player for us. We have signed two defenders with potential in January.

made of glass. he will be back just in time to go to England squad for internationals end of March and he will get injured there too. we all know the schedule on this...
No we don’t.
John Stones got injured tonight when he was giving 110% for the team. He had more fight in him this evening than a few of the others and I bet if he’d not got injured the result would have been different. Not saying we’d have won, I don’t know that, but there would have been more guts in the team.

He’s been one of our best players recently. Today was a game too far and now we’re going to miss him again and for a while. But when it comes to letting go of injury prone defenders in the summer he should be bottom of the list. He’s a level above Akanji and Ake when fit and he’s a leader also. We need him around just to perform that role with the new players and even if it’s only for 20 games a season he’s a massive player for us. Not everyone can be binned off in the summer

We should be letting go of all injury prone players.
Squad planning has gone to the dogs if you're bringing on injury prone Ake to replace injured Stones.
