5 | John Stones - 2025/26

Well, its been written well enough already but, it doesn't mean it can't be emphasized. John Stones, for as good as he is, cannot, I repeat, CANNOT stay healthy. I was quite surprised we didn't deal him away in the summer. And now we are going to pay for it in the short term.

At least we loaned out Reis and doesn’t start Khusanov. Same with Cherki and Echeverri. What a weird season going to be again

To England's credit they sent him home rather than keeping him and trying to get minutes out of him.

For all Akanji's faults I think that we will miss him this season.

No we'll miss Reis this season.

Should have bed him in along with Khusanov.

We have to be realistic, Stones, Ake and Dias aren't the future, they're the past/ soon to be past.

Gvardiol/ Khusanov/ Reis & Bah are the future!

Promising players the latter 3, but all very inexperienced.

Personally think we can accommodate 2.

We need another 27 year been there done it CB. A Bastoni.

John Glass oh well I’m sure the £150k a week on the physio bench will help, maybe if he doesn’t attend 14 matches he should lose his access to City, that’s how it works for us!

We don't need him for more than 10 games a season, he's that good. The Babayaga of football, you rarely see him but when you, it leaves a lasting memory with you. That's how good he is

He's exceptionally good if several conditions are met: he's really fit, he plays the right role, he has the right partner, he doesn't slip (it's normal, unless you are Gerrard), he doesn't play opposition players onside (that's a problem only if another CB does it...)... Even when he does the latter and then slips, Dias is responsible for the goal, or Lewis, or somebody else.

City have made Stones the best paid defender in history (given he isn't available in 50% of the games, sometimes in 70%). Putting City first should be a no-brainer for him. We need him fit for most of the season, because he is really important when in top form.

I love Stones, and I understand his desire to play for the national team - but it's past time for him to face reality about his fitness and what his body can actually handle at this stage of his career.
