5 | John Stones - 2025/26

Which makes the improved four year contract for Dias a strange decision.
Probably want to keep one ( the youngest) of the CL winners. Will be hard to sell him if he gets surpassed by the new CB‘s

I think whether this will prove to be worth it is obviously injuries and is likely to boil down to whether he retires from international football after the world cup.

His recent history from transfermarkt:

I mean if we're gonna have seasons anything like 24/25 then we can forget it - a complete debacle. The other seasons aren't great but I think most would agree would be worth it for 2 or 3 more seasons of Johnny Stones. And what a City legend he'd retire as

Can't see what's the point. Can't rely on Stones to be fit so we need someone else good enough to be a starter. Can't rely on him to be a on the bench because he won't be available when we need him. Even when he's available our current record with him on the pitch: 1W 2L and 2 points lost against Arsenal

No other serious club would extend him. I seriously don’t get why we buy several talented CB just to rely on the same players over and over again. Stones is completely injury prone. He lasts for like 10 games a season and even if he isn’t - in my opinion he is turning overrated . With the ball he is our best defender but without the ball he certainly isn’t + we are just taking minutes from Khusanov/ bah/ Reis next Season.

Extending Dias made sense due to the fact
that he isn’t that injury prone and younger but Stones needs to leave at the end of the season. Same with Ake. Buying talents for 40M to either loan them out or playing at another position makes no damn sense. Just buy a right back then if you want to keep the same CB until the end of times.

Basically don't agree with the dias/savio/lewis renewals and don't agree with this one either. For me Stones needs to go at least 6 months without injury (already had one this season) before you can think about this.

Club is too scared of letting senior players go and always keep them too long (Except Kev lol) and this would just be another example of that.

None of the extension this year make any sense.

First Dias then Rico then Savio now Stones ???

Why none of these guys are world class

How do you extend a guy who missed 30 EPL games last season and is on 250k a week ? Over 30. It makes no sense

We don’t know if this is true but he will be 32 at the end of the season and has an injury list as long as your arm. If we can offer Stones a reduced contract why couldn’t we offer KDB one? It seems he was willing to accept one?

Guessing here, but Stones will be on half the wage, is 2 years younger and association trained.
