5 live no longer doing classified results service

This feels wrong this. It’s just part of Saturday to me… since we got good and have kickoff times all over the place it’s not quite the same but I used to enjoy tuning in on the way back from a game.

BBC Radio 5 Live drops classified football results

The traditional reading out of the football results at 5pm on a Saturday is axed by BBC Radio.

It’s one of the few ways in which all results matter equally, whether you are City or Vauxhall Motors.

I haven’t listened to it in years, so I guess my opinion doesn’t matter, but it somehow seems an important institution in some way.

They’ve got the contract for the 17:30 games for the next three years. As a result of plugging boring pre-match interviews, they’ve opted to can this. For how long remains to be seen as it’s had a big kickback.

To be honest with phones and internet I haven't listened to it for years except in the car after a rare Staurday 3.00 game and even then found it tedious.
