5 Strikers

Despite the flack Bellamy gets hes a class player, he said in an interview he realises he wont get to start all the time next season, but is an addition to the team. He'll be a great sub to bring on with 20/30 mins to go when he can just run at the defenders and use his pace

I seem to remember an interview with bellamy just after he joined where he said something along the lines of that he knew the club were going places and that in the fututre the club would bring in better forwards than him....and that he was just happy to be a part of it as long as he could...even if it meant sitting on the bench and/or cleaning boots (or something along those lines)

every top club has 4 quality strikers at least

boj...plays as a second striker
rsc .....debatable how quality he is and how much he will play but an out and out forward
tevez (if we get him)...can play anywhere across the front 3
eto'o...if we get him...out and out forward
robbie...can play on the left as well as central

those 5 give us variety and interchangeablity.......also add swp to this (though he mainly plays from the right you do see him sometimes drifting around)

id say that is a great set of attacking options which could push us top 4.......though without eto'o we will find it harder

you could also add the likes of ireland and petrov who are great attacking options as well

get the tevez and eto'0 and we are in great shape

Do not forget Bojinov. He has had assurances he is staying, that means if we do get Tevez and Eto'o he will have to fight and step up. Love the competition :D

Would love Boji to succeed at City, such a likeable character.

Two words - Valeri Bojinov.

Don't forget Big Phil too. Deserves some credit. Played well and scored some important goals for us.

Bellamy will not be fit for the start of the season. that has already been reported

so 4-3-3 it is then ?

I think that's where we are headed. I also think there's something to the Robben speculation and he fits a 4-3-3 formation. I also believe rotation is going to be a significant factor this season and how well Hughes handles that, could define his job. I don't necessarily think all these signings mean SWP has to miss out all the time because I think Barry, Ireland and SWP could operate as a midfield three as they can all tackle and cover ground. So De Jong and Kompany may find themselves warming the bench a fair bit. Who knows for sure and we have not signed Tevez, Eto'o and Robben yet but it's clearly not fanciful to think we might. Robben's arrival would presumably see the end of Petrov; and Ela looks destined to leave. You have to have a strong bench if you are going to be contenders and top players who want to be at (English) clubs that can win things need to be prepared to be rotated.

we're building a squad that can challenge for honours and that means quality in depth. I also expect some player rotation.
MH may play an 'all out' attacking formation of 442 with Rob n Tev on wings and Eto n RSC up front. That leaves the strikers we'd expect to find on the bench. If we sign robben i'd expect robinho to drop in behind into a central attacking role and RSC on the bench.

From midfield-

--------Ireland----Barry--------
Tevez------------------Robinho
----------Eto------RSC------------

Or

------Ireland----Barry-----------
Tevez-----Robinho-----Robben
--------------Eto------------------

This is the only was I see the top names said to be arriving on a team sheet together. Saying that i dont think its well balanced. Ultimately, we're gona have some v expensive bench warmers this coming season.. MH will have to make this work until next season when a more demanding fixture schedule will make it less of a problem.
