Still can't believe we played him in a crucial cl game, the guys pointless. Can't win a header, can't run, he'll always need his partner to cover up for him and he'll never be able to do the same for them

Will be awful at Barca too whenever they play a decent side. They play a high line constantly but also without a good press.

Along side Ake, Garcia was the far better centerback - Garcia had a solid game.

OtOH, Ake made numerous mistakes and was arguably at fault for 2 of the Newcastle goals.

I get the dislike for Garcia given that he wants to leave our side to play for Barca - but he's been solid every time he's played for us, IMO - and I don't see any evidence that he's not giving his best effort every time he features.

He wasn’t solid when we shipped five against Leicester, and he looked lost when asked to play right back against Bournemouth last season. However, I don’t think he’s been too bad; anyone who decides to leave will always drop down the popularity polls.

He is the best passer out of the back amongst all our CBs. Better than the great John Stones. And I love John Stone.


He has some natural deficiencies. Height, Speed and Strength. But his positioning, technique, decision making, vision and passing tree are all top class.

We have 3 fantastic CBs so I'm not too worried we are losing him. But that's not to be confused with pretending he isn't good.

His passes are crisp as hell. And pin point accurate to the receiver. And he has almost no excess motion in his game.

There is a reason why Pep rates him ( and for that matter, almost every fan here) I mean before he decided he wanted to leave, that is :)

But now he is shit shit shit. Lol... I can't get with that. I see a very good player... Sorry!

Still feels like someone who will be playing defensive midfield for Levante in five years’ time. Good passer, decent positioning, but you would absolutely love to see him on the opposing team sheet at centre back.
