Re: 50 Years of Motown

Jnr Walker - where do you start ?

Great artist, with perhaps more artistic freedom than many others at the label. In a class by himself.

Anyone know how big the Motown back-catalogue is ?

One thing that does sadden me now, is the dwindling number of artists from those days - every now and then I read another obituary, such as Levi Stubbs or Mike Terry (both late 2008) and it seems the very core of Motown is passing away.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008/oct/17/levi-stubbs-singer-motown" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008/oc ... ger-motown</a>
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008/dec/01/mike-terry-obituary" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008/de ... y-obituary</a>

But, not wanting to be despondent, here's a Four Tops number from a live show in 2004, with Levi Stubbs age 68 still showing he can do it 'live'
