6 | Nathan Ake - 2025/26

I find it hard to understand why some fellow Blue Moaners want rid of him ?
There are very few with that opinion. And in so far as there are any, it would be because he is injury prone.

Its not his ability that folks doubt, its his availability..

Then you need to read some of the posts on various threads NOT just his own one.Plenty are saying get rid irrespective of his injuries.
I'd have to take your word on it. But I've never seen a post saying get rid irrespective of injury.

I think people ( and rightly so) just assume the injuries will continue. A guy who was injury prone constantly at 25 is not gonna magically become a paragon of health at 31. Its the same reason most want rid of Stones.

If Stones and Ake showed the health of Gvardiol, we simply wont have bought Gvardiol, talk less Uzbeckenbauer or Reis.

Its the knowledge that these 2 combined are the equivalent of half a player for the season.

At least in the last 3 years it feels baked into the dough that they'll miss half the season combined.

This is unsustainable. Something has to give. We either catry 6 CBs or either or both leave so the younger guys can develop.

John and Nathan's saving grace is that they are both homegrown. No 2 foreign players in the same position can be allowed to be as unavailable as this 2 have been.

On talent and consistent play, John and Nathan are our 2 best CBs. On availability, they might be the 2 worst in the whole league.

Sad as it is, these are just the facts :(

Over the past 2 seasons Ake has played 15 more games than Stones, but I would keep both just on the off chance they could keep free of injuries. A long shot I know but as you point out and I agree they are our two best centre backs.
However as I initially said there are a lot of fans on Blue Moon who want to see the back of Ake for whatever reasons.

Times up for this lad, can't remember when he last had a good game at centre half for us, he had a good run when playing left back but in the centre he never really does it, seems like a decent guy and all that, but that's not going to help him sprint back and make a last ditch tackle

They’d have had a fifth if it weren’t for him. Their fourth is on Akanji not closing down the player who put the cross in and Dias for giving Bernardo a go at center back.

Just seen the fourth and Ake was at least 4/5 yards from his man in the box when the cross came in
He’s between two runners in the box while his partner is off thinking of his girlfriend. It’s why you don’t play high lines with slow defenders.

I like him. He’s classy. He’s not a minutes trouble. He had greater utility before Nico, Josko and now RAN showed their LB material. We gave away two headed goals to his players. He’s too short to play CB against big players.

He is much better as a defensive left back, because the aerial duels are alot easier against shorter players.

But as one of the main guys, he is up against the other big guys, and that's alot tougher for him.
