6 Nations 2013

Sky plussed the Italy/France match and watched it when I got back from the game, and the Italians thoroughly deserved their victory.
Having said that,I really can't remember a more uninspired and disjointed French performance than that,as they just didn't seem interested, and there was no urgency about their play.
If Italy can play like that away from home, then Scotland may well have a game on their hands next weekend.

Parisse is an absolute beast. The difference for the Italians though was Orquera stepping up, they've got a great pack and him kicking goals and distributing well meant their hard work wasn't wasted as it usually is. Will be a good game with the Scots. I thought Scotland looked more dangerous in attack than they have for years.

80 notes down already on the first match against fucking italy
No more bets going now so i'm right behind england

Well I'm eating humble pie today because I had wales to beat the Irish comfortably, doing it in the second half not quite good enough. Fair play to the Irish, they looked a very good side in the first half and deserved their victory. The French just didnt look interested at all but again fair play to the Italians, you can only beat whats put in front of you.. Im going to Dublin this weekend and looking forward to a great game.. Really hoping O'Driscoll does not play anywhere near as good as he did on Saturday.
Still going for a narrow England win............?

Should be a good game next weekend. Ross could be out and Darcy might be out too. Shame as the same starting 15 deserve to start against England. Also this could be BODs last game against England. He was amazing against Wales I rewatched the game again and it was some game by both teams. Granted in the second have for 20 minutes Ireland were playing with 14 men so they had to make sure they got there tackles right. I know Ireland will be well up for this game they wont want England to beat them in Dublin. I just think with it being BODs last game against England and his last 6 Nations it might well be the boost that Ireland need and want to win another 6 Nations for BOD as a going away present.

Based on Saturday's performance I think it could be the game of the championship, we did ok against Scotland but defensively we were off and fair play to Scotland as they took their chances and scored well. BOD is an absolute god, even to us English, he's the epitomy of Irish rugby and playing against anyone else I would wish him well, should have retained the captaincy though and especially against us.. Game on.. Cant wait

Captaincy means nothing to BOD. He is the ultimate sportsman. He will still give his all for the jersey. Saying that for all that the Scots gave in the England game if England are off like that defensively against the Irish backline Ireland will take advantage of those faults. Zebo and Gilroy both done well on there 6 Nations debuts on the wings both could well keep there places for this weekends game and deserve it.

Our defensive line will be on song for Ireland, it has to be or we will get spanked like we did two years ago when we didnt turn up. This is a young England team and they are hungry for success, they have the talent to achieve it too! Make no mistake though, Ireland have to step up another gear and for the full 80 minutes too.. If we both play to our potential it will be a brilliant game.. I totally disagree with you about BOD, yes he most certainly is the ultimate sportsman, hes a proud man and losing the captaincy will have hurt him... Will it affect his game? No way, he will be even more fired up.. As will England..

The thing is you need to step up more than we do. You were at home to Scotland. A easy game but you had a few mistakes. We were away in Wales the grand slam champions our game was harder than yours. Our squad is fine a nice mix of young players and experienced players. They will all be up for it. The thing England may well think they are the real deal but they have to show it in the 6 nations. 2 hard away games to play at Wales and Ireland it might be a step too far and England may well get beaten in both games. Dont write off the Welsh as they are a good team. They will click sooner rather than later.

We will have to disagree then wont we, Ireland deserved their victrory against wales but they faded badly in the second half and if they do that against England they will be punished just as the Welsh punished them, the difference is Ireland wont have a 27 point start this time. Wales are the Grand Slam Champions but they beat us narrowly at HQ and we beat everyone else including a hard fought game in Paris... Im sure we will both have a lot to say on Monday..... Well Tuesday for me as not flying back until Monday night

Dont forget you said Ireland faded badly in the second half well for 20 minutes they were down to 14 players so its expected that the players faded in the second half against 15 players away from home. Enjoy Dublin. Were are you staying in Dublin this weekend?? Might see if I can get in for a pint or 2 lol.

Well there is a bar called Slatterys Bar on Capel street which isnt too far from Parnell square. Not too sure were the guest house is your staying in. Just head towards the Rotunda Hospital and turn right at the end of the road as if your heading towards the spire and walk down past the cinema and Capel street is along there not too sure how far up or down Capel Street it is to be honest. If your on the opposite side facing the Garden of Rememberance cross the road and walk down towards the spire and take the first right at the Ambassodor and walk straight down the road past the hospital on up by the cinema.

I know almost nothing about Rugby. I've watched it now and then but to be honest, I just think it's a boring load of shit. Just a quick question to those who know something about it though. Just watching SSN and they were going through the Scotland team for next weekend. I realise that this naming of teams days in advance is the norm. Is rugby so lacking in tactical nuances that the opposition knowing your team days in advance makes no difference?

Well I thought I made that clear. But you're not answering my question. Why tactically does it make no difference to name your team days in advance. I can't think of many sports where this would be the case. I'm asking because I'm interested in learning something about it so merely confirming that I don't know anything about it isn't really very helpful, is it?

I think that in football, knowing specific "individual" players is useful as individual players can bring specific things to a game...whereas in Rugby that is less obvious. Yes you can have stand out players, but Rugby is much more of a TEAM effort...albeit, possibly split into 2 (the backs and the forwards)

There's no different formations as such and as both teams do it it makes little difference. The stategy is in the way you play (kicking for territory, an expansive offloading game etc) not the way you set up.

Is it just me or do the English side look much bigger than the other teams in the tournament? Would their pack be much heavier than the Irish one for instance? Most of their backs are built like forwards too.
I wouldn't be as confident as Leighton, senior Irish Players like o'connell and ferris are long term injured and would negate the English size and power if
They were available. Ireland do have young quick wingers though and if they can get them quick ball. Who knows!
Not a huge rugby fan but I've always loved the six nations. Enjoy Dublin if you're going and best to booze around the ground for atmosphere.

Last time i was in Dublin we went to a bar called Break To The Border (i think). It was great, they had a live Lizzie tribute band on but i kept being given black ice cream and fell over. Wish I was going.
