It's becoming ' De Rigueur 'amongst prem footballers....
Once this incredibly difficult skill really takes off you will see it in every match.Thats what prem footballers do.monkey see, monkey do.
That Everton player who I can't stand, who moved to spurs, did it at the City ground to feed Harry Kane the other week.
Ive played Football all my life, and I've never attempted to cross with the outside of the boot.
But Cancelo was the 1st,to do this regularly, week in ,week out,At City.
Cos he is dynamite.
Prob not a full back, definitely not an actor......
But he,s a Player.

Negredo did a brilliant one playing for us years ago to get an assist v Fulham

He was doing some quite brilliant things. Also made a last ditch tackle at one point. He does do some defending.

In terms of pressing actions and interceptions Cancelo's far ahead of Walker and other FBs. And these are quite important for a high pressing team. He does a lot of defending, but not according to the pre-Pep stereotypes about defending.

There are various kinds of defensive actions, in half of them Cancelo's the best FB in the league. I posted stats (in the Cucu thread) comparing him to Cucu and Robertson, some of Cancelo's defensive stats are far superior.

Most underrated City player now.

Saw Maddison do it a couple of times last night

Did you guys never see Ricardo Quresma player? I would put money on him being Cancelo's inspiration.

Also @dennishasdoneit Modric was doing it weekly for Spurs 10 years ago, Cancelo's definitely not the first to do it regularly in the PL but he does do it well.

First few highlights are goals, but you'll see incredible crosses in this comp as well.

I'm sure I remember both Quaresma and Modric doing it regularly. Even Nani did the trivela(?) a few times successfully.

I saw an interview last season in which Cancelo said that Quaresma was the king of the trivela and his inspiration for using that technique

He's kinda always shit except for 6 games a year and no one can prove me wrong yet

Nothing came off for him against Villa , very poor game like a few others and was at fault for the goal should have prevented Bailey from shooting , his defensive awareness at times found wanting. The upside is he rarely has such ineffectual games and i wouldnt swap him for any left back in europe because he offers so much in 90% of our games.
