Only his second game and did well in the first half. This guy is a brilliant player and will show it in the future.

Crazy to play him in that position after a great debut last week - Pep said he was the only player who makes the into out runs so he plays him inside where there is no room to use his pace. You had Phil, Savinho and him trying to find the same space. I get the feeling that pep has not much idea where to fit him into his side.

I feel sorry for him. Not on him this at all. We are not using him, just like we are not using Haaland at all.

Great player, but he can’t do it all by himself - massive money to be spent

Puzzling.
Unless Pep changes how he sets up the team (or the club changes the manager) I’m struggling to see how an electric attacker that likes the ball to feet will fit in a team that still seems to want to control the game through careful buildup and seems to hate any moments of individual brilliance.
Perhaps he is part is the first wave of a tactical change.
This is a good point - when Erling first came he was making dozens of early runs without being given a pass - the fact he still scored a ton of goals is testament to how good a finisher he is. But this year you see Erling standing still not looking for those early runs - maybe Pep hates that kind of attacking but if we don't work out how to play them in early we will end up with performances like today where there was not a lot of movement up front.

Last week we got a result by playing more direct but this week we reverted to pass, pass, slow, slow back and sideways - it's like watching Ray Wilkins when he was 35 never make a forward pass but not often give the ball away. We have to change it and fast.

Two tough games to start his career with us, but he will be ok this lad I think
Really? Not see any signs this lad will be a top player. When silva, agüero etc arrived you immediately could see they were top players. I haven’t seen this since Haaland

kind of feel sorry for him as it will be really hard to get end product G+A in the upcoming sick schedule of only decent opponents but we need some of that magic he had at Frankfurt.

he cannot go all month without G+A delivered.

Chelsea, Arsenal are his first two games, and possibly Real, Newcastle, Real, Liverpool are his next 4. sick set of games, but we need end product from him.

I think he will yea, a bit too early to say just yet like, but I think the signs are there, if nothing else we’ve someone who can take a fucking corner now anyway

Didn't loads of people suggest he'd add an Alvarez-like press to our front line? Where's that? He's making Foden look busy with his jogging around. He should have been on Lewis-skelly for the third.

By no means having a go at him on his second performance, i'm sure it will come as with all new recruits but needs to quickly learn what the bare minimum amount of effort is in this team as he's miles below it. In fairness, it's probably hard for him to see by example when he's got players like Foden showing him.

I think it’s too early to judge him, however I get what you mean. Since Haaland most of our signings haven’t been anywhere near as good as previous signings.

We’ve also sold players like Alvarez, Palmer and Mahrez

Bingo.

When we started getting links with him, I watched his games for Frankfurt, and he was the same way—zero pressing/effort off the ball.

Thrown into a disfunctional team, where the midfield is non-existent and cant put two passes together. What do you want him to do?

not writing him off but he was gash today. very wasteful with the ball and barely put a foot right.

I am sure Arsenal fans was more scared before the game from him than what he delivered. but same goes for Foden etc.
