Haaland would have been in front of that Konate and Van Dick though, trying to muscle in as he’s the same size - anyway it’s all if’s and but’s he didn’t play so we will never know
I love Haaland but we've all seen plenty of games where he's a statue in the box himself

Undecided as to whether he has what it takes for us or not. One thing is sure, he's being asked to carry a heavy load in the absence of Haaland for someone new to the club. Would like to have seen Mwamba (a proper striker) come on in the second half for Foden but he wasn't even on the bench.
I think we specifically avoided a proper striker, to ensure we didn’t end up with a guy who was sat on the bench every week. Being back up to the best goalscorer in the world is no fun. I look at Marmoush and granted it’s only a few games in but I think we have tried to sign a new Sterling. I’m not saying they’re anything like the same player but we need someone who can play wide forward and get 20 goals a season. Marmoush might be that player. If he was an out and out striker, he wouldn’t get 10 goals a season, because he would never play.

Needs to do the simple things better. Quality oozes out of him. Aesthetically he's a beautiful player. Simple things are letting him down. First touch, easy/simple pass, being more aware of offsides, etc.

His mates also aren't used to his movements and tendencies so it's a work in progress. Everything is new. Things will click eventually.

Oh come on, the speed of the game and the difficulty of that pass - expecting him to pass there isn't realistic. He did nothing wrong there.
He didn’t look up, that’s the problem.

I like him, I like his directness and keenness to shoot but he’s going to piss people off when he doesn’t pick the better option & cause himself issues when they do the same back to him.

He could argue people aren’t seeing his runs, anyway, it’s very early and the signs are good.

Best analysis so far

Alvarez was anonymous in lots of games and his first touch was infuriatingly average. Never a Tevez calibre player in a million years.
True, but he's (currently) a far better player than Marmoush, who isn't a 'number 9' in a million years (which is probably a good thing for him). Playing with Haaland, and having the space Haaland creates by being tightly marked will hopefully help him flourish. Scoring goals in Germany (and only for a season) means nothing here.....or we could have saved some money, and got Werner in on loan from Spurs.

Needs to improve jis passing for 1. And stay up on his press duties. Cant have leaks

His work rate is awful. We were constantly told he would add energy and spearhead our front press much like Alvarez did, not seeing anything remotely similar to that yet. It is of course something that's really simple to pick up so no reason not to be entirely confident he will do so but it's not on show right now.
Does seem to saunter around for a player that's just made such a big move

Work rate isn't there for me, and when he does get the ball I'm never convinced there's anything spectacular in him

Certainly won't right him off, I'm sure he'll be fine but just doesn't strike me as a player that's going to help us win a Champions League (for example!)

I dont think he is that kind of player.

He is actually just a winger who wants to have freedom to invert and attack at an angle.

He doesnt want to be back to goal.

Rotate him and Doku on the left, let someone else like Jack or (Foden, Bobb, Echeverri) play as the 10, they have better touches and passing.
