It seems more terminal with Sterling, its far more than a 'spell'.His first touch and technique has regressed and his decision making is shocking.I dont think he troubles defences anywhere near the degree he should do as his play his so predictable and unconvincing.
With the above players, the main issues were adjusting to a new system and/or fitness.
I agree with all of your points, don't get me wrong. His confidence is down which is what happens when you have a few bad games and miss big chances. That makes you try to hard, hesitate at key moments, snatch at shots. It's like "The Yips" in golf. He was like this for all of his first season (or was it two?) at City and also for about a dozen games at the beginning of the 18-19 seasons. I think Pep is trying everything to get him to play his way back into form - it took Bernado over a season but he's done it. I suspect Pep is saying to him "keep trying things. Run at people. Make things happen. Don't lose belief" and at the moment he's running into too many blind alleyways or pausing at the key millisecond.

Sterling will always be Sterling, even when his form returns. He will miss chances but he will also frighten defenders to death and get goals. I believe in both Pep and him.

As an aside, I think Mahrez is different. He has never worked in our team because of the way he plays and I don't believe that will ever be put right.

Agreed, the matchday thread last night was its usual pathetic best, especially regarding Raheem.

Its sad and I know its born of frustration because I've done it myself, but we do love to slag our own.
If you ever lose sight of what football dunces 90%+ of this forum - and any football forum - are, read the first few pages of this thread. People are kneejerk and clueless in the main, much more so than in the stadium. They need a scapegoat. It's Edgehill Syndrome.

You accused me of not liking him before the game last night and I responded with I don't like his form, do you.

No reply, just saying
With respect, mate, you didn't even understand the basics of a football formation last night in the pre-match thread, so your opinion is not one I'm interested in.

Bernardo was flitted in and out of the team and played all over the park,he never got the same opportunity to be consistent or nail down a position.Unfortunately for the player,Peps love for an out of form Gundogan and the ability of KDB have done him no favours.
By contrast Sterling has been given every chance to recover his best form, and yet 12/18 months later we are still seeing an incredibly frustrating and largely ineffective player.

I'm no fan of mahrez but at least his first touch is sublime and his end product, when he cuts out the selfish shit,is destructive.

I want nothing more than the 24yr old Raheem to return,a player who was fast, direct, unpredictably devastating and hungry.Unfortunately, the amount of times he runs into brick walls, loses the ball, falls over and refuses to fight for most 50/50's makes him more of a liability these days.

So i name half a dozen and you disagree.....lol.

If you cant see his contributions are woeful, you need a new job.
When he isn't scoring himself he is still contributing to the team. His work rate rarely dips and his pace and dribbling are a constant threat to defenders and his movement creates space for other players around him. He does miss chances but he is always a threat and does get his share.
