Yes exactly. You're just trying make me look bad with this populist cynicism. How much United paid for Pogba? How much Barcelona paid for Griezmann Coutinho and Dembele. How much Arsenal paid for Pepe. Price does not always guarantee quality. Sterling will be sold for that amount, that does not mean I think he is worth 100M
 
Yeah well, apart from his goals and assists, being a key part of an ongoing winning run which is currently at 19 games and being a key part of an unprecedented amount of trophy wins for us since he joined the club what has Sterling ever done for us?

He didn't have a great game last night but Foden wasn't much better, but apparently according to some of the mob on here he gets a pass while Sterling is now the worst player ever. (Not hating on Foden by the way just illustrating the different treatment players get on here depending who is the current target of the boo boys).

If he had been dropped last Sunday he wouldn't have scored the winning goal.

Someone said stats came be deceptive, I would agree with that, however when the stats are actual goals and assists then that is the key measure of a forward player. He's a much better player than a lot of people on here give him credit for.
 
Sterlings "numbers" are not a reflection of his form , as others have said his movement means he is often Johnny on the spot for a tap in , he is playing currently in the best team in europe so he will ge this share of goals no matter how dire he is playing, we have players who can put chances on a plate for any player.

He is terrible with one on one's with the keeper he misses nine out of ten chances , he misses absolute sitters in every game (remember the Lyon game 2 yards out) the reason we do not win big Champs league games is because of players like Sterling who bottles it . He's fine over 38 league games against dross he will notch 20 goals , but at the very top level , were we want to be he isnt good enough , how many times has he scored in big games against the Rags and Dippers for example ? three times in about 30 games and he has missed a dozen of sitters against them.

Foden is ten times the finisher Sterling is , and he's only 20 years old and Foden should start in a wide position before Sterling every time , he's a better player all round , on the other flank it would be Mahrez because he is in better form even Torres has shown glimpses and has proved he can finish chances as well.

Alernatively we go for the best and buy Mbappe for £150m who makes Sterling look like a Sunday league player in comparison.
Sterling isnt going to change he is hit and miss , love his and effort and his attitude but he has peaked he isnt going to get any better , he has been good for our club and helped us to win plenty of trophies but if someone offered £70/80m to buy him ,thats good business
Raheem is a good , honest footballer but never world class in a month of Sundays.

I think its a little unfair to compare Sterling and Foden. One is a kid who will have peaks and troughs, the other is a senior member of the squad, who now finds himself sporting a captains armband. A more appropriate comparison would be with Mahrez, and I know who between them gets the most stick on here (and rightly so).

As for the G/A argument. I agree with you. In his 1st couple of seasons he was atrocious. He copped a lot of stick on here, some justified, some not so much. He then had a couple of great seasons, where his all-round play improved and he produced impressive numbers. He was the darling of Bluemoon. 19/20, his overall performances dipped significantly, but the G/A numbers went up. A fair number on here didn't like the way he was playing, but accepted that a guy producing the numbers he was, deserved some leeway. This season, his overall play is woeful and G/A wise he has significantly dropped in output.

He is now as bad as he has been since 16/17. He needs to either significantly improve his overall play, or get back to scoring for fun.

Just to clarify,Bernardo has always been one of my favourite players,i have never wanted him sold.

As for form......how long do we give 'he who must not be criticised' to rediscover it? another 12 months? more??

Nobody said he can't be criticised. I don't know how many times you need to be told this.
