There was an instance when he was chasing back against Walcott, and he simply gave up.

Perhaps pep has them all controlling the game , he seems to be holding them back a bit

He’s been doing that since the start of last season. I sit on the half way line and a few times our side of the stadium last season we’d be encouraging him to work hard to win the ball back down the line (the sort of thing that gets the crowd going, a la Tevez), and he either gives up or fouls the player.

That sort of thing is where I don’t think he has the mentality to ever be a top player. I don’t think he’s got the determination in his personality and I think it shows with how his game hasn’t progressed with the ball at his feet n’all.
 
I wonder if he’d actually be better played down the middle with Torres on the right and Mahrez down the left. He really just doesn’t suit playing on the left
