Anyone else on the freezing Maine Road terracing way back in 1965?

The lowest ever crowd for a first team City match, Swindon Town beat us 2-1 and a very young Buzzer scored for them.

What were your memories?

What a depressing game, but the hot Bovril was good at half time.

i was there i`ve even got the programme somewhere, my dad took me at 4 years old back in 1957

I wasn't there but I do remember the back page of the Sunday Express had a big photo of the Scoreboard End with a few dozen fans stood on it. Even then our attendances were big news.

I was standing on the scoreboard end, I think the next person was a couple of bus lengths away.

I don't think my rattle saw much action from what I remember.

I was stood on the Kippax that afternoon only 8,000 in a 63,000 capacity stadium,we also had another 8,000 crowd that season our last home game.

Yes Alan Oakes scored City's goal with a typical left foot thunderbolt from about 35 yards into the Platt Lane goal. That was the highlight of a miserable match.

Oh and it was one of the games that led to the sacking of George Poyser and replacement by a certain Joe Mercer. Every cloud........

That was v Charlton Athletic...significantly more turned up the next time we played Charlton at home on the last day of the season..

I wasn't there. In those days I was watching the A and B teams at Chassen Rd in Urmston and the odd reserve team game at Maine Rd played at the same time the first team was playing away.
