I shouldn't get too upset about this, really, but I think it's fucking wank that the rumour mills were speculating about a falling out with Pep when he's not been anything but a model professional for us and every team he's ever played for and been one of the few players who stood up and was counted even in our worse moments this year. I hope he has a speedy recovery.
 
Just confirmed he's had the operation

Blessing in disguise, if he's staying, as it will give him a good break and be ready for start of pre-season

Made sense though as he does pass the ball forward and take shots from outside the box so i imagine him and Pep butted heads a lot this season ;)
 
Makes him holding the midfield together single handedly all the more impressive to find out he was doing it through injury. Explains why he would suddenly be unavailable at times without pep mentioning it. Shame he's going to miss the cwc, I think our chances of winning it are done without him but the best time to get surgery, get rested up and shouldn't be too far behind the rest as the new season starts.

And when he got himself sent off in a must win game, we were given proof once more.

I don’t think I’ve ever wanted a player out the door as much since the takeover but I can’t take to him at all.

Makes a certain element of our fan base look like the rags “unlock Pogba” brigade. If the guy needs rodri next to him to add to the team then he ain’t the guy.

Speedy recovery for him, Achilles injuries aren’t pleasant(I know firsthand) but my hope is he’s moved on and the minutes trusted to either Nico or a new signing.

I think there’s quite a few players who have nursed themselves through this past season, where and when they could.

Here’s hoping everyone comes back from the CWC in good shape for a very interesting season ahead.

Sports Science Dept is going to be working overtime this summer and autumn ensuring players are walking the fine line between being match fit enough for the season and not being flogged to death by the lack of any real rest break between the seasons.

We’ll disagree. He was the laziest off the ball and most conservative player on it. Others you look at have plenty of credit in the bank, he doesn’t.

Bernardo had a stinker of a season but ran himself into the ground trying. This lad couldn’t be arsed. The red card could have ruined the season and next and he’s supposed to be an “unc” or some nonsense.

Good that those with plenty of credit in the bank couldn’t carry as much as Kovacic did. Without Kovacic we not making the CL. He had some clutch games and was the only one who could somehow play as a 6.
Bernardo was horrible this season barely passes the ball forward. Kovacic is the last of Bernardo/ Gundo and him to leave.

Wow I cannot believe what I’ve just read . He is not the greatest player but I can’t think of many better than him this season either . Out of curiosity who do you think has had a better season than him ?

It's pretty damning for the rest of the midfield if the laziest, most conservative player made by far the most tackles and interceptions. And also scored the most goals. And played the most through passes. And carried the ball forward the most often

What were the rest of them doing?
