Quality player as I've always said on here

The first half of the season was a bit stop-start because he picked up a couple of injuries but he will be an important member of the squad as we get deeper into the season.
 
Not convinced yet. Looks like a poor man’s Gundo to me. Nice football, carries the ball well but chooses the safe pass too often.

Pretty much every player is a poor man's Gundo.

Kovacic did make 2 key forward passes which lead to goals. 1st one was to Alvarez where Foden ends up scoring and the 2nd is the long ball to Nunez where Bobb scores.

He was never going to be any type of Gundo, though. He'd still be here if Gundo was.

We knew he'd never add the goals that Gundo did but his ball carrying skills are far superior so it gives and would have give us a different option if Gundo had remained.

Gundo was a legend for City.
His classy behaviour and style made him a role-model and his captaincy exemplified this.
But, all great teams, move on.
With Phil and Alvarez rapidly improving from last season and KDB returning, would Gundo start ahead of these 3 in the 2 central attacking roles ?
With Pep playing Erling and 2 wide players, Gundo would have become a squad player.
I think he knew what was coming, so fair play in buggering off to a warmer climate and keeping his missus happy.
Still a legend though...
 
It was only Huddersfield but that was a Gundogan-esque pass from Kovacic for the opening goal.
